How do the wheel specs of these compare to the other stage 2 offerings, RB/VTT/Pure?

Not included like an add on option similar to Vargas and RB. Just curious if not an option what guys do when getting turbos that don't have the install kit as an option.

Yes I saw that but didn't know if it was specific to RB turbos. Thanks

On the turbine side they use a smaller turbine compared to RB/VTT. They also use the stock TD03 CHRA.

Mine just went in today. How are you guys priming your turbos? I don't like the idea of just starting the car without getting oil in them

Freshly built/rebuilt turbos should have assembly lube, which will get washed away by the oil. It's also why if you check shaft play before install and after running them, there can be a notable difference.

Yes they are lubed up when I received them but it seems like a common practice to prime turbos before starting. I did this on my evo and srt4 back in the day

So....what's the best way to prime them? Pull the fuse for the fuel pump and turn the car over awhile?

The wheel size for Pure is probably closer to VTT 2+ 19t or 20t because the spool is about the same and they put down similar power.

pure stated they are using the stock size 1.81" compressor snout, which would lead me to beleive that a 19t would not flow well there. i still think they are using a 15t compressor wheel.

Wedge may post the dyno results himself but if you go Hexon's Facebook page, they have them there already.

Shaft speeds are relatively low at idle, so as long as the CHRA is not totally dry, should have plenty of time to get oil to it. It's not like the oil stays full in the feed once the turbo is installed, it drains every time you turn the engine off. Except for washing out the assembly lube, starting up with a newly installed turbo for the first time isn't any different than starting it up the um-teen times a day for however many years you own it. It's certainly not going to hurt to do it, just doesn't seem very necessary.

What shop did you use for the install? Or DIY?

Did it myself in my garage. Took me a total of 20hrs but spread out across 6 days. I didn't rush at all. Read forums and used people's advice prior to doing anything just to be sure. So far I have 260miles on the kit and I'm still breaking it in. I feel like 350 miles is plenty of miles of mixed driving to get them ready for wot runs

I kept everything oem. Bought the install kit from ecs tuning, I have a air compressor with tools and blew out each line 2x, even sprayed them with brake Cleaner just to be safe.

I actually shed a tear the day it started up realizing I was able to pull this off myself. I was told it will be hard, but I had confidence in myself and my mechanical skills that I kept going and moving forward

I was advised by VasilLalov to make sure I receive new oil lines.
These are not covered by warranty.

Other than wastegate rattle and high RPM whine on both, turbo#1 had a small seal leak.

Needless to say Vasil was spot on > one of the lines > don't know which > was cocked despite regular oil changes.
Supposedly, if the get twisted during install will restrict oil flow.

I guess that would lead toward premature shaft wear.

The rest of the issues with these units in unrelated to the oil lines I think.
