Wrapped the centre trim in carbon and i like it, looks great plus don't need to worry about finger prints or scratching it with keys etc the gloss black just docent wear well in this area of the interior.

Cant decide to wrap the rest of the interior or just leave gloss black what do use think ? i also wrapped the gear shifter trim and the trim on top of the ash tray gloss black which i think looks way better than silver along with the carbon. i think the idrive knob would look great in black but can't really wrap that and i don't know that painting this would be a good idea as it may wear through pretty quick with constant use.

Apologies for the filthy car ! next think on my list is some heavy duty rubber matts, the carpet matts are taking a beating with the wet winter weather.

Not the best pic I'm afraid but this is mine with all the trim done in black carbon so you can get an idea. (excuse the start button, was playing around with ideas)

Looks good mate, Think i will do my steering wheel trim in carbon as well ( getting the usual pealing ), just leaving the rest gloss black for now, think both carbon and gloss black compliment each other quite well

Gave her what will likely be the last wash of this year, what a nightmare ! Snow foam, jet wash and wind don't mix plus the rain kept coming on and off. Anyway cars now tucked up in the garage and will stick another coat of wax on to top it up tomorrow and just having a think of what the next mods will be.

I am toying with the idea of lci conversion but need to look into it further and see what exactly is involved and how much money you are talking when doing it DIY

It's a good feeling when a full wash, polish and wax has been done and the car is tucked away in the garage for a nice day!

That's it waxed and looking the part, every time I properly clean and wax this car it puts a stop to any temptation I have to wrap it ! Chucked out the garage now and ready to go and get dirty again !

Also finally got around to sorting the sticking door handles, had to remove them to do it properly though as just spraying wd40 in just makes a mess and doesn't sort the problem, removed them and put a little grease to the part that sticks and all now working as they should be.

Not posted on here for a while and decided i would put a decent write up for my spring de contamination + correction detail. I had bought a load of new products which i have been meaning to try for a while and had taken photos all the way through but i have lost most of the photos so I'm afraid a before and after is the best i can do

After 4 months neglect through the winter without one single wash which is a record for myself, I finally got around to giving the car its after winter detail. So it was
*Washed
*Clayed
*Polished ( Menzerna range )
*Waxed ( Collinite 845 )
*Tyres Dressed ( Carpro PERL )

So its looking the part once again and thank god the winter is over and can now keep on top of it

An old tv trolly comes in very handy during a detailing session

Forgot to do the engine while i was at it but will catch it during the next wash.

Always amazes me how well this car comes up with some TLC !

Been a while since i posted anything up and thought i would do a quick update.

Decided that some new mats were long overdue and treated myself to some OEM all weather mats, I should have got these a long time ago my drivers side carpet mat is totalled ! What a difference it makes having the mat stay securely in place with fresh new velcro that comes with them. They look a little faded when new so treated them with some Carpro perl which darkened them down nicely without making them shiny or slippery

Here is the state of the old mat well and truly done, I will probably give it a good clean and jet wash and see how it comes up and just keep it in the boot.

I will be doing my yearly January service soon and also going to change the diff oil this year.

I also have a boot lid lip spoiler on its way to be fitted when getting some paintwork sorted at the rear end, another mod i have fancied for a while which i think will look pretty good along with the 335 lookalike exhausts !

i have been ready to sell it a few times the past year but always end up holding on to it, think it may be getting sold at some point 2017 but we will see !

Still looks not bad for an old timer

Got another little job taken care of today. Back when i wrapped the centre trim the anti rattle felt was partially hanging of so i just removed it and wrapped right over. As a result it caused a rattle, i tried stuffing bits of cloth etc between the two parts of trim but ended up making it worse when it pulled up and made creases in the vinyl. Finally got around to ordering some anti rattle tape and pulled the trim out this morning, problem solved just wish i had done it long ago.

Another little quick improvement today.

Replaced the Auto gear selector with the newer type, much prefer the look and feel of these compared the old ones plus my old one was flaking paint pretty bad at the front so felt horrible to use. I had vinyl wrapped over it but still looked pretty poor.

Well chuffed with the replacement

Before

After

Big thanks to scaramanga on the forum for sorting me out with this

Got some more bits and pieces done today on the car

Oil and filter change plus diff oil change

Old Oil

The old oil didn't look too bad I haven't got a comparison photos but the new oil was much lighter golden colour and much more transparent, managed to get around 940ml out and just the same amount back in possibly a little more.

Definitely glad i done it though took no time at all, very easy job

Next job was fitting 15mm spacers on both front and rear wheels, as usual i forgot to take before photos, i may have some older photos i can look out for a comparison. Looks miles better very happy with how it sits now

Also decided to give the callipers and hubs a tidy up while i was at it.

I will let the paint dry for a few days and then the car is getting a good wash

Very happy with how its looking though i have been thinking of doing spacers for a while

Nice work! How did you find doing the carbon wrap? I have a roll of 4d glossy stuff there, might experiment with it later

The vinyl can be tricky to get to grips with, its easy to lay it down flat but its when you come to the corners that can give you problems. I have practised for years with the stuff on several different things and still not an expert i would say my trim is 99% perfect with a 1 or 2 tiny issues

After doing my trim I know what you mean about corners being tricky. Did you take the controller apart to cover it?

After briefly trying to sell the car i have decided to just keep it. So thought I would get some long awaited paintwork done and a few other niggles sorted out that have been annoying me.

One of the front headlights had been replaced at some point with a non OEM version which was beginning to yellow and peal which was gradually getting worse and looked awful. picked up a genuine BMW headlight from ebay, also ordered some upgraded dipped beams and sidelights and changed them while i was at it. I take my hat off to anyone who can manage to change the bulbs in these cars through the wheel well, they daft bulb holders are not easy to get back in correctly, headlight out job for me ! Bulbs i picked were Mtech Super White Xenon which look great, nice and white.

Before

New headlight on the left

New dipped beam on the left

Old bulbs

New Bulbs

All done and back together

Car was then sent off to the painter to have rear bumper, front bumper and bootlid painted. Pleased with their work but as to be expected with paint shops i had to sort out the polishing

All better now

The next job i took on was tidying up the aux and charge cable. They always look a mess and the wires all hanging out do annoy me !

The ashtray is where i usually sit my phone so this is perfect and much more tidy looking. I couldn't take any photos of the phone in place as i use it to take my photos. Might try out one of they magnet holders for it then i could have the phone sat upright if i wanted.

Next up the wheels are going to be powder coated then full paint correction and Gtechniq coatings Car should be looking far tidier after that lot and i recon i will be happier to hold onto it another while longer once its looking the part again.

Nice updates.

Only one thing I would do though and that redo the ashtray lid wrap as it goes the opposite way to the main centre console piece.

What did you use to wrap the trims, I used some cheap vinyl which I was really happy with at the time but after 4 months it's starting to wrinkle and peel a little bit so I need to redo it.
