If anything, I would think it's the other way around. Aftermarket (unless you're talking some $500+ OZ's or BBS) are usually made overseas and less durable. Even though they are often lighter, they are bent more easily and of a lesser quality. Look at the Canadians, most don't care what they run in the winter, even black steel rims on higher end cars.
