That's about what I've been quoted.

What do yu think to not having the rear screen dne, if the dots are a problem?

If you stand within six feet you notice it more due to faint greying around the dots. Following from the car behind and you wouldn't notice the dots, just the faint lines of the heating elements. I didn't feel it a problem. Don't have the car now as it was written off in March otherwise I'd taken better pics. The ones in my garage are the only ones I'd taken.

Not the best quality or angle but you can't see the dots on this pic

I think it will look more odd without rear tinting than with the faint line of dots.

Can anyone help out? Hard to tell what a shop's like and how good their work is from looking online or in the phonebook.
Go to Pentagon Glass Tech http://www.pentagonglasstech.com/window-tinting.php

I had my windows tinted there. No problems. They test your windows before and after.

I had my 335i coupe recently tinted aftermarket by a local tinting company. My car had no factory tints and so i wanted all the glass (except front) the same level of tint all round. I went for 35% as it seemed a good compromise - hate the limo tints and dont see the point of a very light tints. In the workshop 35% seemed great but when i went back to collect the car i was disappointed with the results - it seems that bit too dark for me. I wish i had gone one grade down say around 40% and let that little bit more light through. The other issue was the rear window - the guys had a nightmare fitting it and that alone took them over an hour to get right. To be honest it still isnt perfect and the main issue was bonding the film to the very top strip across the window - it still looks like there is moisture underneath it and it doesnt look great if im honest. The guys have told me to bring it back anytime and they will sort it but to be perfectly honest im tempted to go to Pentagon (where i wish i'd gone in the first place) and get them to redo the whole rear window again. Im considering putting a much lighter film in the back window to see if that will help lighten the side windows more?? I havent got pics up yet but will do shortly so you can see the results.

Phil, i would honestly take it Pentagon - i wish i hadnt scrimped - my local guys did the whole car for £180 - as i mentioned its 35% all round - the side windows are fine (just maybe a touch too dark from an aesthetic view point) - but my main issue is the mess theyve made of the rear window and i feel its cheapened the look of the car which is a silly school boy error on my behalf - so if i could turn back time i'd go straight to Pentagon and pay the price and get it done right - its worth it.

You cannot got wrong with Pentagon Glass. They do warn you about the legal limits but are willing to do the front (side) windows as long as you sign a disclaimer. It cost me £700 to tint all side window and rear window and have "super glass" fitted to all the side windows. I liked the result and have no problems with it since it was done in February. Before going to pentagon, I contacted several tinting companies, including ones recommended in these forums but I found Pentagon to be the right choice. IMO it is well worth the extra money considering the value of the car.

If any ones in the Nottingham area check this place out. I have heard good things about this place from many friends who have used this place. However I don't know anyone whose had a BMW done. Also read there legal section on their site.

Yeah, it's either them or execspec for me, TintR being cheaper. Execspec give me more confidence, but I don't know anyone who's used them. A few people I know have used TintR and been happy, but I haven't had a close up look at the job.

The £700 included "super glass". Otherwise it would be in the region of £300 from what I remember.

Check out the pics of the rear windows of the M3 car of the month. These pics clearly show the grey shadow you can get when the film is not firmly pushed into the dots surrounding the glass. This can be reduced by pressing in when the glass is hot from the Summer sun and the film is more pliable.

This was my 535d.....

40% on the side rear and back windows, 50% on the front windows and 15% on the tailgate window.

This shows the heating element, I had to go back a week later and get this tweaked, any good installer will tell you to go back if it shows too much.

I need to get my front windows done as I hate the van look, but I go a little lighter than the fronts, just enough for it to be noticeable if really looking (ie. the police!).

Not sure what camera that was? Probably a 20D with the 35mm f/1.8 lens then, or a Leica D-Lux 3, but I took them pretty late evening so it would have been high iso, so must have been the Canon thinking about it.
May have even been my little 350d with the 28mm f/1.8 lens, but doesn't look sharp enough for that.
But one of those three anyway!

Tints on the front windows to match the rear will be illegal. Just so you know. Many tinters will do it, but many won't. You will need the minimum tint available to 'blend' in but not match. See my garage for mine which has a light tint on the front.

Search the forum, there are loads of photos on here if you look.

I had my E90 done in Wolverhampton by tint centres it was £130 for all round except the windscreen, cant remember what % it was but they do all the local garages like BMW, Merc and land Rover so i had it the same % if you ask the dealer to do it for you.

They did a really good job, and you get a life time warranty also if you get stopped by the police regarding the front windows they will remove it free of charge.

Here is a pic, its not great as the light is crap and its with a phone. Its also not quite as dark as it is in the pic.
