That's a stunning looking car Mark
(I think you could get away with 275's on the rear, especially if you're not running a different suspension setup)

Beemerbird: Thanks Helen - not quite in your league (yours is luurvelly)
DXB: Thanks Carl - not had her dyno'd but Ant reckons about 275bhp at the moment - not sure about torque but it certainly feels good. I may look for a bit more later as some folks have gone up to 300bhp and 700Nm but Ant's mods are very well balanced so I don't want to spoil things. Paul: Thanks - appreciated. Ant Man: Thanks - I did look at wheels from BBS (CH in 'M' fitment but although the rear concavity was what I wanted, the offset was too great (little) to fit without mods to body and susp). Nothing in OZ's line-up floated my boat for the look I had in mind. Speedtrap: Thanks - yes, the brakes make it look so much better and the stopping power is pretty excellent too. Hotcoupe: Thanks - I fancy the idea of the 275's on the rear but with the spacers now making it an effective ET30 it's already pretty tight with a 9.5J rim and as you can see in the pics, the tyre is poking out slightly at the back of the wheel arch. What rim size/offset/tyre size are you running on yours?

Hi Paul,
Yes, basically any engine will gain some benefit from having a less restricted air flow as there will be an increase in volumetric efficiency but changing the filter on its own will only lead to a small gain (maybe 5bhp), so is better considered as part of combined tuning approach (such as filter, remap, exhaust) in order to make the most of each change and allow the engine to injest, combust and exhaust the gases more efficiently. If you're looking to change the filter as part of a service then I'd say stick a K&N in anyway, as it won't do any harm - just don't expect to actually feel much difference. HTH

Booforty, CD, Foxy - thanks guys, I was hoping I'd struck the right balance with the mods - nice to know they get the thumbs up.

Mark,
These wheels weigh 12kg then, same as the 19" peformance rims. You probably saved a kilo on the tyres too, going to NRF. 19" 255 run flat tyre weighs 13kg btw!. Has that really made a big difference to the handling? What's it like around town and over bumps pls? Are you running standard Msport springs and dampers? Do you think running a front and rear offset of 34 would allow 245 / 275 tyres on the standard Msport suspension without rolling the arches? I've been looking at OZ ultraleggera (ultra light) and boticelli. The ultraleggera weigh just over 9kg at 19" x 9.5. I wonder what difference these would make to the handling? |

It would make a slight difference due to the less un-sprung weight.
