Wait, so did you notice a drop (worse mpg) after the update? So this is what the other thread was talking about when people's mpg dropped when they got the update????

No this is just what the SA told me. I'd imagine the drop is negligible.

He said I may experience a slight increase in consumption, but then told me he only warned me of it because he was instructed to when performing this "fix." I haven't noticed a quantifiable difference, and I get the impression there isn't one on the scale that we measure consumption.

I'm pissed!!! The dealer said they won't do anything even with the SIB because my car is 01/07 build and that bulletin is for 03/07 on. I have the exact same issue as reported on that bulletin but they won't do it bc my car doesn't fit the bill.

What can I do?

Does that mean you don't have NIC?

I have no clue. they said they can't fix it since they can't even detect the problem. they can't do a software update because it doesn't fall in the bulletin's parameters.

I'll have to go in and show them what I'm experiencing.

I have the same thing in my whip. Definately isn't turbo lag, it's more of a sudden jolt as if the tranny is delayed in catching the power from the engine. Dealer says it's normal but we all know that's a bunch of BS. . .

Maybe updating the car's software will do the trick

and the trick is finding a way to get the dealer to update the software

It's weird i had the same exact issue everyone here is talking about. Just recently a little over a month ago i had the Sirius Sat radio installed in my car and they had to reprogram my car in order for it to work. Well after the programming i noticed that i no longer have that issue and when i look in the iDrive vehicle settings i noticed that there is a new service icon there for when my car needs an emissions test. I checked my service record but couldnt find what they updated the software to.

I still wonder what version they updated it to???

I'm pissed again. Went to the dealer this morning to drive it with a tech and he said it was normal. He felt the jolt but said it was normal, gave me some BS about the turbo spooling and it's normal for these turbo cars.

He said if I keep trying to show duplicate the problem, the car learns that and it's how I drive so it will keep doing it. So I told him to reset the learned settings. Probably wont' do much but they wouldn't budge.

maybe I can find another problem with the car that has the same solution (updating software) so they'll fix that problem and as a side effect fix this one too.

If you have iDrive tell the dealer that it freezes constantly especially when trying to switch sources...i dunno maybe that could work

Hmmm, I'll have to keep an eye on that. I told them that my Nav says DVD error all the time but they didn't do anything about it. But I'll watch to see if I see any freezing (I currently rarely switch sources).

Thanks!

I'm having the same issue, dealer tells me it's normal. At first he recommended clearing the adaptive learning of the auto tranny, but then said they've changed that process and it just crashed someone else's 335 so they woulnt want to do it. How do I convince the dealer to update my ECU (Mine is definetly an early 335)

Wow, sounds just like mine. they said they are going to rest the adaptive learning as well. Haven't heard from them in 24 hrs. I thought it was supposed to be really easy to do. I wonder if something happened.

what build is your car? mine is 01/07

I finally got my car back, and he just reset the adaptive trans. Not sure how they did it. But it's done and written on the paperwork that that's what they did.

He did mention he emailed BMW NA to see if they could upgrade the software for me. So I'm waiting for him to contact me about that.

of course, the car still drives the same.

Mine does the same thing but not in DS mode

the dealer said it's normal and there's nothing they can do about it.

Anyone else experience this and is this normal?
I thought it was the Brake Assist but it could be the tranny software as well. D mode is lame but unfortunately sometimes i want to drive in a sedate fashion (not holding rpms to 6k) but then I have to deal with all the quirks of D mode. I wish the tranny params were configurable thru IDrive, I'd like the responsiveness of DS with the rpm holding of D. That would be my daily driver choice with DS reserved for spirited driving.
