i still dont believe this thing can do a 7min 20+sec lap time... the sport auto times were significantly slower. nissan must be doing something when they take the car out to lap.

everytime you say this to a GTR owner (and yes i own a GTR myself but am far from a GTR fanboy), they go on about how skylines in the 80s were the best - blah blah blah they were race cars etc etc as impressive as the GTR is, you just cant compare nissan to porsche in the end. the funny thing is - how long did it take nissan to develop and plan out the GTR? like 5 years or something? where as porsche just shits out turbos and GT3s like nothing and they are far more superior in terms of quality (both ride and interior, etc etc). you're not just paying for the porsche name. (own a 997 turbo as well and no im not bragging but unlike many asshats, i can actually talk from personal experience whereas people just go with what they read on the internet and magazines) |

Yeah, really. I guess they were in full attack mode after the OP drawing first blood with the original location of the thread

lol. I didn't even think that was bad though... if you want to see bad go read the Ford Mustang 5.0 thread in the turbo section here |

i'm a pretty reputable member on both nagtroc and 6speedonline - which brings up a question: does your username have to be the same on all forums? i don't think so. i guess the 997 and GTR that i bring to the local meets are kit cars then i didn't know you had to sound like you have a ph.d everytime you post on a forum if you drive nice cars. |

Yeah, it sucks to own a car based on a platform known for winning races instead of one known for posting awesome "Ring" times that no one can independently confirm.

Not to be siding with the Nissan, but for those who say the GT-R doesnt come from a racing heritage doesnt have a clue what they are talking about. The R35 GT-R was derived from the R32-34 Skyline GT-R's, which dominated Japanese and Australian motorsports for many many years. It more than held its own in the racing world. And if anyone serious enough would build one for the Nurburgring 24hr race, I truly believe it would not only win, but dominate.
I love Porsche, one of my dream cars is a CGT. But to say the Nissan GT-R has no racing heritage is ignorant. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_...T-R#Motorsport http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_...T-R#Motorsport |

More BS 'Ring times!
How is that the Z06 was quicker around a 1.5 mile road course than the GT-R? This was NOT a ZR1. http://www.caranddriver.com/var/ezfl...b839d1e5b7.pdf

Every time I see a video with the Ring, I feel homesick.
In comparing the Nissan with a Porsche, isn't the fascinating part about it $ for the performance? |

The heritage is still the same. Of course the cars are not going to be the same, 5 years of development and change went by between the R34 and the R35. The R35 was also the first in the series to be developed completely based on a 2-door model. The R32, 33 and 34 were based on a 4dr model. The R35 may be different than the previous models, but it still follows true in Nissan's GT-R racing heritage. The current model competes in the FIA GT Racing series, not to mention Millen racing uses one. For some strange reason when I posted those links, it pasted the same link twice. I meant to add the GT-R's page as well: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Gt-r#Motorsport It may not be as prestigious or as deep as Porsche, but it has one, and it runs back to the R32. |

I think the money to performance ratio is what irritates the Porsche guys. But thats just my opinion |

As I said before, I don't think bashing on cars is cool or anything close to that, but the GTR has zero motorsport credibility and ring times are nice, but I want to see the car compete against its GT2 competitors head to head. That's bragging rights.

How many ALMS, or GT2 Cups does the GTR have, or even entries for that matter? Unbelievable.
