Overall it was a great season, I dont think its fair to judge MSC in his first season. This upcoming year, will be the true test for him.
Its hard to argue that the RBR chassis was by far the best car on the track, Ferrari and McLaren could not keep up on some tracks. Vettel is an excellent, well rounded driver. I myself have always liked LH due to his fearlessness while passing, although it has cost him at times. But this year I saw a more composed LH (except for Monza), yes it may seem like he complains about his car but IMO, he's just trying to figure out how hard he can push. I cant wait to see what drivers go where, I personally would love to see Kobayashi in a Renault and Kubica in a Ferrari PS, did anyone see Clarkson's Italian Job? there was a pretty funny comment about Ferrari and F1 |

Well, 2x2=4 is a fact. A lot of the 'facts' had other implications, but am not going to argue. I started watching F1 the last 2 years of Schumacher's career (and enough tidbits from previous ones), and I had enough to draw my conclusions. But forget about the past. Here's one fact: a great driver adapts to new conditions in laps, or maybe a race or two. But using the new tire rule as an excuse for an awful season, and counting? Come on. He's obviously a very talented driver (all F1 drivers are), but he's simply not the great driver he thought he was, or he'd have walked all over Rosberg at least, with the same car. I always said he made the biggest mistake of his life not staying retired; he f***ed up his legacy IMO, whether deserved or not.
If fanboys like facts, next season will be the only one that counts, as they run out of excuses . He'll get everything we wanted on his car, and will have to adapt to new tires (uh oh!) like everybody else. I predict he'll never get even close to being a champion again, but am willing to take my words back if needed. He's a nice guy IMO. Later. |

fair enough; there was a recent comment by Hakkinnen, who I always thought was friends with Schumacher; he said, well, that he was never his friend, and that whether the problems are technical or with Schumacher himself, he has tainted his career and should've never come back.
Hindsight is 20/20, but at the time, he decided to come back with the champion team headed by Ross Brawn, with the full backing of Mercedes as a stand alone team ($). Sounded like a good bet to me as well. At least he saved himself the embarrassment of trying to drive the dreary F60 while still rusty, which apparently only Räikkonen could drive. That said, this season was Schumacher's worst ever, and that's a fact.

you guys are being to rough on the guy, people said the same thing about Brett Favre after a horrible season w/ the Jets, only to have his best ever the following year. No comment on this year
i dont count out the greats until its proven they are not, lets wait at least one more season before we judge the man |

Still a very exciting season, especially since I attended Monza.

Now, this is sure to raise some controversy. What do you guys make of BBC's top 10 drivers of the season?

I agree with that list for the most part minus Massa being 8th. He was one of the worst on the grid relative to the car he had. Kobayashi should definitely be above him.

In the end it comes down to 3 great drivers who all made mistakes. In the last race Vettel made no mistakes. Vettel won because Alonso made the biggest mistake in the season, by following Weber in frst Pitstop. RBR gives Vettel the better car so it makes Weber not part of the equation. All Vettel has to do is win the race, which he did quite well. Oh and Reanult didn't help Alonso either. I can't stand Alonso and Ferrari sportsmenship, but Ferrari is purely to blame. Bigger question is where can Weber go for a fast drive and more respect. The Dutchland folks clearly have no room for him to out drive a German driver.

Great drivers don't take 8 years to win their first race either. I don't count Webber as average, but I don't think he has the ability of a WDC. He needed the best car on the grid to do anything memorable.
I guess FOTA, the BBC, and the rest of the F1 drivers don't have good enough opinions? |

i believe he could be faster than hamilton while at mclaren if it wasn't due to that one side favoring between ross brawn and his love child hamilton. despite all that bs at mclaren, he still has the same point as hamilton. this proved alson is a faster driver than hamiltion given equal car and treament from the team. Even 08 when he had a shitty car. I'm not saying he was doing the best overall. But taking into account the car he had at his disposal, he has had a reputation as the best driver out there since 05.

You need to consider the F1 cars he had and now his age in the field with a bunch of younger WDCs. Remember, He finished 4th in his first F1 race.
