every staten island 335 is an xi. hell all bimmers are x's up here. lame. we dont even get that many snow storms. and our roads are horrendous. where on this dreadful island do u reside? unless u know how to handle a high powered rwd car which u need a lot of respect for and have had experience i think the x can help. especially w/ the youth on this island. not saying you are one but look at the many drunk driving accidents on this island where many teens have been killed over the summer...of course tehy were in packed altima's...

- I actually appreciate what your saying with this, I was told by many i should get the xi safer this and that, we get decent snow storms once yearly... I reside in the drug infested areas of: South Shore!!; Princess bay exactly. Yourself? & Yea im coming off a 328i which i hit atleast 3 pot-holscosting my parents thousands so yea this island can be classified as a legit "Dump" no offense if you take any pride in this island but i just can't stand it. Thank you, Allan |

Just slap 313 wheels on and your car looks the same as the iS from a distance. Honestly, I'd choose the 2011 335xi over the iS. The extra gas mileage is completely worth it, not to mention AWD that might save your life. The only possible thing you'll miss from the iS is the DCT. Otherwise, a $500 mod can overcome a car with 6k+ in difference. I'm sure BMS is working on a JB for the N55.
Plus, fully loaded = awsome. People will tell you that bare bone cars are purist for the driving experience. They're just either cheap or stuck with a used car/shitty options from the lot and are talking out of their ass to justify themselves. Good luck and take care of your car! |

Why the fuck do you care what ppl say? Do you ask their permission every time you buy something. Did you buy the car to show off to family and friends? Sorry bud but you seem to be very insecure. I am surprised no one said why didn't you get the M3? When people, friends and family ask me why I got my car, I tell them because I like/want it, it makes me happy. I got the XI because I live in Canada. If I was living in Cali/Florida I would get the "M3" maybe even the "is".

For $1386 + shipping (might be $100), you can get brand new Style 313 18" wheels. That's the cheapest price I could find. If you have the 18" Sports Package tires, it's a simple swap, although I'm not sure of the specs for the XI. Should be 8x18 ET:34 for fronts and 8.5x18 ET:37 for the rear. You can confirm on your driver's side door jamb sticker. I think the iS comes with 18" standard, not sure... but if you want the 19", it's going to cost you $3000-$4000 + new run flats which might total $5000. Completely not worth it in my opinion. If you have the Style 342 wheels ( http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/att...2&d=1272285516 ), I might be interested in taking those off your hands if they're in new condition... |

You are 18 and have a 58k MSRP BMW. You should be ecstatic about your 335i Xi. Any of your friends who are giving you shit about not getting an Is must be pretty jealous of you. That is one sick ride to have and fully loaded makes it so sweet. Enjoy.

here is my opinion, if it helps. to me its simple. xi isnt for me, since drivetrain loss will take some of performance edge off the car (though it might be safer). and to me, performance ranks first in a car.
I'd rather NOT get the car yet, save about few more thousand (it looks like you might be able to, since you are able to get still a very expensive car so few thou can be saved in time) and get a M3 SEDAN. M3 coupe to me is meaningless 5-8k more for a same car... thats for me, since contemplating IS means you want more performance and performance is maximized in M3. since you had to shell out a lot of money anyways, why not a bit more (seems your family is well off so why not) and get a M3. My personal choice, if I had money like you and was contemplating... lastly, if I could only have two choices? (xi or is) OF COURSE THE IS. |

The XI is just fine. What swayed me from the IS to the XI when I ordered one two months ago is the extra price of the IS + the AWD credit right now makes it quite a difference. Plus, in the Northeast the XI will have better resale value.
I drove an IS and now I have my XI..the handling/performance differences are minimal at best. I actually like the M package XI wheels better then the IS... |

in terms of power, im sure for city driving the xi and is will basically feel the same... u'll only start feeling the differences if u track it...
btw, i know what u mean about all the parent crap... i have an e90 328i with fugly halogens and no M- package... my parents deemed them "unnecessary" |
