If anyone has been having a hard time finding a quality USB-serial cable to work smoothly with Windows 7 (and, as a result, has had problems updating firmware), here's what we recommend getting: http://www.usconverters.com/index.ph...roducts_id=325

We usually keep a few in stock but ordering direct is easy as well. Read the tech on the page and it will explain why cheap cables don't work properly on the new operating systems.

I think the rev3 has USB but 2.5 does not...I loaded the 2.5/3 maps on my car today with no issues...bought my unit in May this year, it came with the updated harness...I notice that the user software is 5.2 now and no longer 5...nice...

Updated harness does not mean you have the 2.5.....

I know...just point in that out...if you run 2.5 map in rev 2 the car will not start according to the notes...my car started so I assume I have 2.5 as I don't have the USB port...

FWIW, the Rev3 and Rev2.5 (update) have the same exact processing power as your Rev2. The only relevant differences is that they have upgraded ignition and fuel circuitry. The latter has no benefit to the n55 yet. But the former does provide more power in meth/race gas applications since it eliminates the 2-3 degrees of passive ignition retard the Rev2 induces at high RPM.

The Rev3 offers another advantage in that it offers native USB communication. No need for any serial-to-usb converter. Just use the simple USB/printer cable that it comes with. Very simple.

The extra i/o channels in the Rev3 aren't useful for n55 applications just yet. But they will be in the near future

Well, there's another thing you need to sign me up for. At 37k miles I'm almost done with warranty and I can really start pushing this sucker!!

Is anyone running these new maps/firmware yet? Can anyone comment on how they compare to the previous maps/firmware?

I read the "Read Me" document and mentions a few revised features but doesn't really say what it actually does.

The revised MAF freq calculations will a low RPM hiccup that some may (or may not) have noticed in the last couple map releases.

The revised crank signal processing will eliminate the 12253 shadow code in Rev2.5/3 applications.

The new throttle/boost mapping will result in smoother performance at partial throttle.

Nothing revolutionary. Just incremental improves and worth updating to!
