However not being nasty, you have no chance of getting the money of that one set of tyres on eBay. You may notice that the next dearest set on ebay are £275 and they have been listed for months now. I've been keeping my eye on ebay to see what turns up and £275 is the most I've seen a pair of rears achieve and they had 7.2-7.4mm tread left. I bought a pair with 6MM tread for £200 but they went back as they were dodgy but you couldn't tell by photographs and most certainly not in the description. Look back in the classifieds here and you will get the indication how the market is for runflats. Ebay will get you most money but you will have to cover all their fees. I've only bugeted £200 max but I did originally base that on you describing them as 5mm. I don't want to spend too much if trading the car in. You will get more than that for 7-8mm but nowhere near double. Best of luck and I will see how it works out. |

If so where? The main tyres places all take £300 for a rear but I did see new ones for £250 recently. £700 for 4 new tyres is cheap. |

Kerr and scooba - Appreciate your comments. Selling tyres is not something i know a lot about so its helpful reading your views and getting a better idea of the market. Will have a browse of the classifieds

If you are selling and assuming that there will be reasonable tread left on the tyres I am genuinely interested in the rears, I am only keeping my car until July/August and I don't want to pay for a new pair of rears when I'm not going to get the full value out of them.

Probably a shot in the dark but first to offer £750 for all tyres (plus shipping) will get them. I'll physically confirm the tread tomorrow.
If no luck then they will be posted on eBay this week. |

N/S/F 7mm 8mm 8mm O/S/F 6mm 7mm 7mm O/S/R 7mm 8mm 8mm N/S/R 7mm 8mm 8mm So just the front driver inside is worn a bit more than i thought. I will be advertising this on the 1/5 series forums etc, and will want £750 plus courier fees (maybe £40?). I will be also putting them on eBay hopefully today or tomorrow. To confirm they are Bridgestone Potenza RE050A, and 225/35/19 88Y on the front and 255/30/19 91Y on the rears. |

i bidded a pair last summer for 270 quid 5/6mm across..just because my fronts were still very new so i did not want to spend money. ended up needing a pair of new rear alloys because they crack them up so bad.

That's sad to hear. Did you get them replaced for free by BMW?

Fronts are nowhere near in demand as rears and rarely do people require 4 tyres at the same time. You are going to cut out most of your potential customers. Like yourself many people ditch runflats for normal tyres. Most people just want a pair to give the car back or to sell. They want something cheap and with good tread. 5mm+ is all they look for. you can get a set of 4 for just over £1000 fitted just now. Spending £850 plus another £15 per corner to fit makes the saving very small. £850 almost pays the full cost of top brand non runflat tyres. If you look at ebay the rears advertised at £300 rarely sell. Same with any pairs or fronts over £250. You will see good tyres by established members on here getting no interest for fronts at £175. On a good day at ebay you might get £300 for the rears and £250 for the fronts. As a set of 4 you will struggle badly to sell. A few people have tried on here and failed. You are aiming too high. |

Personally I wouldn't risk selling the tyres just now since you have only just got the car.
I would run the car for a while and make sure all is ok before making changes. If the car has to go back or something is found to be wrong with the wheels or suspension you are opening yourself up to BMW telling you to forget it. |

Will BMW really say that putting non runflats will affect warranty? That's shocking considering that runflats probably help crack wheels. I based my price on looking at prices for new tyres, which like you say is £1000 fitted. I would actually accept £700 for them and was planning to have that as my starting bid today after looking around. Yes people are looking to replace RFTs on here (or buy cheap RFTs to give the car back), but there has to be a market for RFTs. There must be loads of people that don't make the switch. But then again those sorts of people probably buy new from places like Kwik Fit. Anyways i'll try them at £700-750 and if i don't get any luck its fine. Not in a huge rush at the moment. I can always lower the price later if I need to. I want to at least give eBay the chance, but i do have a feeling it's going to be a long shot. Another part of me is saying f*** it, just sell the rears and buy the new rubber, then sell the fronts for however much you can. I have a feeling i may have to do this if i have no luck with eBay.... |

Yes 850 will get you top notce non rft tyres.
i just bought 2 x 235/35/19 2x 265/30/19 michelin pilot super sports for £750 delivered from camskill, add £50 quid to bring it to local tyre fitter to fit it. done! Just to tell you guys if you don't buy online expect your local to quote you upto £330 per tyre!! Re: Mob17 - yes BMW did replace since i have comprehensive warranty with them which makes claiming them much easier.

Hi Yoro The Michelins you just purchased are these the fancy ones with only 6mm tread from new ? , Also why did you go up 10mm on width on both front and rears , Is it due to limited tyre size choice on the stock size tyres. I was thinking off going Michelin Pilot Sport 3s but they didnt appear to have any in 225/35/19 or 255/30/19 To be fair she has driven the car for 3 yrs on rft and never complained and when the new 4 coupe arrives Ill buy her one as she still loves her e92 but wont buy 20" wheels if thats a option due to the ride ,unless they resurface every road round our way ,and like that is going to happen |
