There is this excellent place for dim sum in Commerce Gate (Highway 7 / East Beaver Creek). I had to look up the English name of the place :\ but it is right above the arcade / Japaneses noodle place.

Ambassadors is what your talking about up past Time Square. It's mad expensive but the food is very good.
New World is pretty close to where I live (DonMills and Steeles), New world is affordable and pretty good service/food. We gotta show early or else all the good food will be gone.

I think he is talking about something on the south side of Hwy 7.

IMO Ambassadors at Hwy 7 and W Beaver Creek (NW corner) is perhaps one of the best and it's also the most non-Chinese-customer friendly. They have a picture menu for dim sim too so I am never afraid to bring the uninitiated there. Do they open before 11AM on weekends? Have to get there very early 'cus parking is insane!!

P.S. If you want to bring non-Chinese friends to a good authentic Chinese dinner that's is the place to go. It is pricey but good.

I've been to the Ambassador. It's good, but i wasnt blown away like I am by Pink Pearl at Harborfront.

Basically the plaza in the corner opposite to the Golden Court.

There are some good dim sum places that have discounts if we go early and finish early. Tho the better (and more expensive) ones are typically crowded.

I don't know whether I gonna make it or not but I'll try my best. Have to bring my two kids to Montreal to visit relatives on Friday, drop down to Ottawa on Saturday to meet my wife and go to dinner with my folks for my mom's 80th birthday, rush back to Toronto on Sunday for Thanksgiving dinner with my wives' family. By Monday morning I don't know what kind of shape my kids will be in and whether my wife can (or wants to) handle them...... Story of my life!!

Haven't been to Pink Pearl at Harbourfront since the early 90's. They were my #1 choice back then when I was a carefree downtown boy. Sounds like they are still going good these days.

I don't know what is good downtown anymore. I've been in the northern suburbs for almostly 10 years now, I am simply out of touch. All I know is parking is usually near impossible down there, especially for a bunch of cars that want to park together. For Ambassador you can park together in the lower section on the south side if you get there by 10AM. The main parking lot usually gets busy early because another cheaper dim sum place on the north side of the plaza (forgot the name) usually fills up by 10AM. Not sure whether Ambassador opens before 11.

I just made a deal my wife so I am most likely on. I can come if I look after the kids on Thursday night and let her go out with her co-workers. In the worse case scenario I will bring my 5 yrs old daughter with me. She loves har-gal (white shrimp dumplings).

By the way, I went by Ambassador this morning and the window sign says it opens at 10AM Fri - Sun, the rest of the week at 11AM. I will call to see if they consider Thanksgivings Day a Sunday.

Kelvin .... You mean Ruby Rest. at Finch and McCowan. Go there all the time. Food is okay but pretty cheap compare to other rest. in Markham or Richmond Hill. But not enough parking unless you park near the entrance of the mall. lol to join and meet all you guys but too busy .:sad0147:
