maybe i wasnt clear or something. im sure its very difficult to get a bunch of scrape metal and lasers to make this happen, if you built this from scratch, im very impressed and would have no idea where to begin... what i meant by easy was, there are multiply companies that make plug and play units to watch dvds/tv on the stock navigation system(as far as i know, none are available YET for our car). those units usually have audio/video inputs for other video sources. IF you bought on of those already built units, and had it installed in your car, AFTER that, it would be easy to get your ipod video to play on it.

The OP is a real prick. What type of A hole posts a mod and then won't tell anybody where to get it? The site to get the aftermarket (illegal in most states) video nav input module is navwithtv.com. I have it in my 5 series and it works real well. I came over here to post because someone was at E60forum asking where to get it. We have lots of post regarding the unit over there and I've had mine for over a year. It also works well if you get the auxilliary input installed for sound.

haha. this guy definitely thinks he is the coolest kid in the world and doesnt want anyone else to be able to enjoy it.
Redondo, if you are listening, do you know if navwithtv.com sells a model thats compatible with the e90? and if you hooked an ipod video up to yours, will it play the video on your navi?

Hey you know what..In sunchild's defense I dont think he's lookin to keep it a secret from us really..He said it in his previous/last post that he doesnt have too much time to play around on the internet but that he'll take the time to write up a DIY..I actually called that tvandnav2go place since its a few minutes away from my house and the guy who actually does the install says that the kit comes complete with instructions on how to install it..I am also friends with an installer who does this for a living and he told me that he thinks on our cars that the tv portion of our navigation unit can actually be "unlocked" by the dealer..have you guys ever noticed that when you use i-drive to access your audio screen there is a choice to select dvd but its just that you can click it?..I'm friends with a few people who are techs at BMW dealers so I'm gonna look into this a little further cuz I definitely wanna be able to watch movies from my Navi screen..I'll let you guys know...

DVD/TV IPOD on your Nav Screen
Hi Everyone
My name is Dominic of www.TVandNav2Go.com and www.NavwithTv.com. Yes we make the mod to convert your New BMW3/5 and 6 series nav screen to a DVD, TV, PS2 backup camera etc. If your car has nav then it has an 8.8" screen. Our 8.8" unit will let you display 8.8" on 8.8" (streched) or display them 6.5" on an 8.8" screen (NOT streched). You will be able to select this in the menu. Our 6.5" unit is for cars with no Nav. This will display 6.5" on 6.5". You will have 4 video inputs, 3 audio inputs and 1 audio outputs. The mod is Plug and Play and takes NO time to install. If your car doesn't have nav you can use our unit to add an after market nav to your car. The cost of the mod is $550. Feel free to call us at 718-763-7367. Thanks Dominic of www.TVandNav2Go.com |
