You're saying the boot up has cosmetic issues when converted to physical, right?
Yes when in physical form, the boot up is missing the '*********V3 is loading' screen with the animated BMW logo. There is around 30 seconds of nothing on the screen instead, then the 'vista' style 'Microsoft corporation' green loading bars appear, then eventually the blue windows 7 weclome screen appears followed by the desktop. I'm just curious why this has happened and wondered if anyone had any ideas - could it be an issue with the bootloader not using whatever was customised in the bootlader of the vm perhaps? I havent tried the laptop with my cable connected to the car yet so I dont know if there are any other issues following the vm to physical conversion but hoepfully not.
I've looked in the help folder on the desktop - sorry, what are you referring to?

Use this to try to restore to default. If it doesn't work then I wouldn't spend more time trying to repair it as it's just cosmetic. This is also only intended to be a VM so you don't have to mess with many settings.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I was just curious as i'm keen to learn more about the VM side of things in general, and it's just the troubleshooter in me that wants to get to the bottom of why it's happening - sad I know! I came across the coder for life site with that tool when researching what might cause the windows loading screen to revert to the vista style one, so might give that a try. It's a seperate interest to the car diagnostics side of things, so will try and ignore it for now and just enjoy the new setup and test it out on the car! Thanks again, Scott

Where the issue comes in is, the average user can't flash CUSTOM maps with winkfp(yet). There are 3 users on this very forum that ARE tuning with winkfp.
Any hint for a techie how to flash with winkpf? :-)

Port settings or what? You need to be more specific. If it's the port settings, look in device manager for the COM port number of the usb serial. Then use the shortcut within the OBD help folder (on desktop) to edit the text file and change the COM Port to match the number that's in device manager.

The shortcut for the obd port setting is only in v3 lite. You can find out how to find this file to edit for v3 or v3 lite by looking at previous post on this thread.

Ista/p problem

Hi, first of all thanks for a very nice VM, good work.

I've got Rheingold(ista/d) working with USB k+dcan cable with connection against physical com port from host machine.

But I can't get Ista/p to work. Is there some special settings in obd.ini, edibias.ini or network adapter that I have missed?
Please give some advise.
/Johan (sorry for my bad english, I'm from sweden)

Hej,

After clicking on the Ista/p launcher, did you click on the "Start K+DCAN ICOM Emulator" line before clicking the BMW or Mini (or Rolls Royce) logo?

Yes I did!
DoI have to set a IP adress on my computer to get the emulator to work properly?

Ok thanks, how about the .ini settings?

Edibas.ini:

Interface = std: obd
#interface = remote

TCP
Remotehost =192.168.68.40
Port =6801

Microsoft loopback adapter called USB is activated with IP: 169.254.0.8 and
Network adapter eth0 ia activated with obtain IP automatic.

And I have the USB k+dcan connected to the host machine and use com3.
Then connected serial port from physical com3 to com1 in VM.
(It works with Rheingold)

Is this all correct?

Looks like mine.

What could be wrong?

Should I connect the USB k+dcan directly to VM instead of the host machine?
Is there any other program that should be started or just the loader/ISTA/P?

No communication with DME.

Can someone please confirm that this version of ista/p is working with k+dcan cable on BMW motorcycle?
I've got the Rheingold working on my bike.

So ive been using the V3 since I found out about it, and first of all i must say, thanks! really helped me a lot. I was having trouble getting the more specialized programs to work like ISTA & Reihngold.

Recently i set up a netbook i have, for coding. i figured id use the V3 LITE on it, since its not as fast as my HP laptop i have the full version of V3 running on.

But, i've tried downloading the sp-Daten Files Torrent under V3 LITE files. I can not get it to go past 42% finished on utrnt.

It gets to 42% pretty quickly, but then just basically stops. Is there an error? Am i doing something wrong here? Does it just not have enough seeders hosting to dwnld it?

If i COULD get it to finsish downloading i will deff seed it for a bit on my desktop that stays on all the time. LMK!

Once again, thanks for the work and time put into this, i know it takes time to source, download, install, and then set up these program's to run properly. So i appreciate posting this fort everyone on the forum. Has helped me alot, and im sure a lot of others.

I used VirtualBox and it ran great on my HP laptop (Wins7 Ultimate). Would love to set up the V3 lite on my Dell Netbook (10" Laptop - Wins7 Strtr)..
