3rd party coverage...
A third party extended warranty does not provide new OEM components, they reserve the right to provide "like" components. This means used or salvage vehicle parts. For those outside of the original 4yr/50k original factory warranty, I would rank Fidelity first and route 66 a distant 2nd as Fidelity does pay the full labor rates and provide new component parts nationwide. Fidelity is the actual underwriter for the original factory warranty of every Volkswagen and Audi in the united States. We should all do our due diligence, however I felt that I should share reality. www.fidelitywarrantyservices.com

You can also get 3rd party warranties as well like Route66 resold through PenFed Credit Union. |

It would be cost prohibitive at that mileage even if they did offer a warranty. Find a service manual on ebay and do the work yourself. These are the easiest cars to work on that I have ever owned. Everything is modular.
If you are not willing to do the work yourself, then you need alot of money for dealership, sell the car, or find an independent mechanic to do work, |

Hi all,
I just bought a 2008 335i with 52k on the clock. I pick it up this weekend and was considering buying an extended warranty... here are the prices I was given - they're considerably steeper than what I've seen in this thread: "3 Star (powertrain coverage) – 3 year plan/36,000 miles $3,469 4 Star (comprehensive coverage) – 3 year plan/36,000 miles $3,762 4 Star Plus (added comprehensive coverage) – 3 year plan/36,000 miles $4,141 5 Star (full comprehensive coverage) – 3 year plan/36,000 miles $4,391 I attached copies of the parts that are covered under the 4 and 5 star plans. Please review the information and let me know if you’re interested in any of them or if you have additional questions. All levels come with roadside assistance, car rental and trip interruption and they can be transferrable to another owner." I average around 14000 miles a year. The car has a full bmw service history, with no issues... and the car was $16k. |

I am original owner of 2011 335d with just under 34K miles....don't drive it much. But I do love the car and intend to keep it.
I haven't had any problems with the car. My original warranty is coming to an end and wondering if this particular car has issues I should know about. Also any guidance on which warranty would be the one to buy.... I live in Nevada if that matters. Thanks!! |

BMW extends fuel injector warranty of my 2012 335is to 10 years
I just received a letter today 12/27/16 from BMW that extends the warranty on my 2012 335is fuel injectors to 10 years or 120,000 miles from in service date. Are they having problems with the injectors and typically how long before service is required?

I bought a CPO'd 2013 335is in December 2016. They offered the Gold CPO wrap for $1,999. I told them I did not want it. They asked how much I would be willing to pay for it. I told them $1,000. They lowed the price to $1,250. I ended up taking it.
Car has 6 months left on the original factory warranty and has 25,000 miles on it. |

I'm considering purchasing a 335is, DCT, 40K miles. Some extended warranties do not cover clutches, pressure plates, and bearings on manual transmissions. Any idea on how Route 66 and Fidelity deal with these? I did call Route 66 today and they basically said what I just said, and could not tell me if the DCT clutches would be covered. They said that if they were internal, similar as the components on an AT, they would.
Guidance will be much appreciated. Thanks.

I have an interesting story. I bought a 2014 Z4 almost a year ago, April 2016. The car had 500 miles on it because it was some BMW executive's car. They sold it to me as a new car. When they sold it to me, they said since it was new it would come with free maintenance and the standard 4 yr/50k mile warranty. Today, I took it into the dealership to get the first maintenance. Oil change and break fluid. I asked them to confirm that it was all covered and explained it was sold to me as a new car. They looked it up and said the warranty expired because the in service date was January 2013. As you can imagine, I am not happy. I said I wanted to speak with the General Manager because they sold the car to me, less than a year ago, with the impression that I have free maintenance and plenty of warranty left. They never mentioned the in service date was January 2013 and that the warranty would expire in 9 months.
Which brings me to my question. I read on here that if you have an existing warranty, you can purchase a BMW extended warranty. However, since the dealership misled me, I did not know the warranty expired, last month. Can I still buy a BMW extended warranty or am I going to have to look at 3rd party warranties? I'm so pissed off right now.

Have you spoken to the general manager? You should also place a call with BMW corporate and escalate within their department to explain your situation. You should not have been sold a "new car" if the warranty expired in 9 months. However, you will need to bring out your sale contracts from the day of purchase and what they actaully say. Either way, call corproate and take it from there. Im interested to see what comes of this so keep us posted if you can. |
