The front lines do bear a remarkable resemblance to the 5 series, it may very well have been a photoshop

You can't base the US price by using the exchange rate. If you price out a US car versus a German car, you'll find that they come out to the same number (ie, 36,000 Euros and 36,000 bucks). Plus, the US models come with a BUNCH of extra stuff that the Euro models only have as options. Basically, the US gets the best pricing due to our sheer volume that we purchase. When the exchange rate goes bad, BMW has to eat that loss.

Hi all, just some more new spy pic's of e92 335i in South Africa, article on www.wheels24.co.za. I believe that BMW has been doing a lot of testing with the new turbo engine in South Africa due to the extremely heated climate. Know for a fact that BM has had lot of problems with the turbo diesel engine, have turbo failure due to the hot climate. They still have not released the 535d here due to this.

As Quoted from article

The lightly disguised 3-Series coupe was accompanied by a heavily disguised BMW X5.

At first we thought, from the huge exhaust pipes, that it might be the next M3.

However the absence of any sports-type trim or other embellishments on this otherwise production-ready car killed that thought.

Then we received details of the all-new engine which we now believe sits under the bonnet of the coupe.

The engine will be unveiled in the metal at the Geneva Motor Show next week.

The 225 kW/400 Nm 3-litre turbo six is expected to bridge the gap between BMW's magnesium-alloy inline six-cylinder engine family and its 4-litre V8.

Although BMW is not telling which models will get the new engine, insiders believe the all-aluminium (not magnesium) six to power the forthcoming E92 3 Series coupe in a new 335Ci-badged variant, the 5 Series sedan (in which it should revive the 535i nameplate) and possibly the 6 Series coupe/convertible and 7 Series sedan.

in germany, BMW will increase the prices for all modells by 1. march 2006. E46 325ci then costs 34,950 euro, 330ci costs 38,200 euro.
this are the basis prices without any goodies.
you can download this new pricelists from http://www.bmw.de/ .
so the mentioned starting price of 35,000 euro(expected for the E92 325i) is probably right.

You need to remember 'why' BMW are creating these models and what changes are happening in their product portfolio.

1) They are bringing in the 2-series later this year, using mainly 4-cylinder engines and replacing much of what 'used' to be the lower powered 3-series range. Pictures of the 2-series in testing indicate that it's around the same sizeas the old E30 3-series. Room must be made in the price range for a 2-series model without overlapping the 3-series.

2) BMW told us that the 335i was being built to fill the gap between 330i and M3, so it won't be cheap. We also know that Audi's RS4 is priced at £50k GBP so the E92 M3 will be priced 'at least' as much. This would represent a £7k GBP increase (+17%) over todays E46 M3.

3) BMW originally wanted to name the E92 Coupe the '4-series' but decided not to because the heritage of the M3 name being tied to a coupe. The intention was to call all Coupe models by even-number names and priced these at a premium to the saloon equivalent, like they already do with 6-series and 5-series.

4) the E92 Coupe will be significantly different in design to the E90 saloon, in the same way as the E63 Coupe is very different to the E60 Saloon. Look at the price differential BMW asks for the 6-series over equivalent 5-series and you can anticipate their strategy.

5) BMW's intention to differentiate the E92 Coupe from the E90 Saloon is further underlined by the suggestion that the 335i will be delivered in 306bhp for the saloon but possibly 330bhp for the coupe. This would further justify the premium price of the Coupe.

I'd say all the signs are pointing towards a significant increase in E92 Coupe prices over the E46 and that will be essential if BMW are to credibly attack Porsches 911 with their M3 and M3CSL models.

Base of $40k for sedan and $42k for coupe in the U.S. sounds about right to me. Until the E90, BMW has never given HP for free.

Wow, that side view of the 335 looks like it doesn't have a huge rear overhang. Maybe the coupe will be a sexy beast after all.

Why isn't the seat belt height adjustable? Where is the sunroof? Will it not be standard on the coupe?

I would guess the reason there is no sunroof is because they are not standard in Europe like they are in the US.
