Depends. If he bought it at the end of 2012 and only does 4K miles per year then he's dead on for BMW's recommended schedule.

That first owner put 40k on in one year?

If you go to my threads page you can find my 200K and 300K milestone posts, they have all the info. I just replaced the alternator at 315K.

I actually meant to mention your name in my post to this other gentlemen (or lady?). Anyway, greatly appreciate all your reporting on your high mileage beast!

LOL - I'm not sure if it is commitment or rather, stupidity... I like living out in the countryside. The best thing you can do for a car to keep it in shape is drive it every day.

I have 211xxx on my 2007 328xi 6 speed e91 wagon. Did the valve cover gasket and coils replacement about 1000 miles back; clutch replacement about 3000 miles back. I use liqui moly 5W30 and their Ceratec additive for my oil changes. Next up: full suspension refresh with Bilstein HDs and OEM suspension. I have all the water pump parts ready for when that goes.

Nicely done... whats Ceratec additive? I wonder if I should use it as well?

I am at 145K miles. I also need new suspension including new shocks. Other than that still running strong.

"Ceratec is a high quality ceramic wear protection product which is safe for use in all engine oils. It reduces friction and wear due to ceramic compounds that withstand extremely high chemical and thermal loads. Ceratec reduces direct metal-to-metal contact, thus increasing the engine service life. The low-friction effect reduces fuel consumption in gasoline and diesel engines. The chemicals in this specially-formulated product adhere to metal surfaces to reduce internal wear and friction, giving you peace-of-mind and saving you costly repairs in the future. Treats up to 5 liters of engine oil and provides up to 30,000 miles of protection under normal driving conditions."
Do I need it? Probably not. I'm a Coast Guard small boat mechanic and am a huge believer in doing what the tech pub says, but liqui moly stuff is great IMO.

You know it! I do that every other oil change; that combined with my magnetic drain plug helps me keep track of what is going on in my engine.

2006 330i Sport package
190,040
Bought it from the original owner 10,000 miles ago... all original service records, only thing not original is valve cover gasket, spark plugs, and 3 coils, brakes, and belts changed twice. Even has the original window tint... 👍🏼👍🏼

hey thanks for sharing. My starter went bad yesterday... after 11 yrs. no warnings either besides slow cranking same day. Tried to jump started with tow truck but nothing. Once the car was at home tried to hit starter and it did start once only and nothing after that.... how much did you pay for labor and parts?

Starter went a couple months ago in mine too... Same deal as others mention, slow cranking one day, then no start the next.

Mine is a 6MT so I push started it in the parking lot, drove to autozone, left it running, picked up a reman bosch from there ($150), drove to the bmw dealer, left it running, grabbed a new set of starter bolts ($7), drove home.

Swap took about 3 and a half hours including installing the 3-stage intake manifold that i had in the garage.

New one seemed to crank slowly the first 3 or 4 times.

And now one of my front springs snapped in half, rusted through enough to give out. Yay new england. Parts on order...

I had the car towed to my in-laws house and did the DIY in the driveway.

I bought a Duralast starter from Autozone and did the swap myself; seems like I spent $200.

There's a DIY video on Youtube of some guy doing a starter swap on an E90 328.

I used it as a guide and was done in two hours; although, attaching the wire loom to the underside of the manifold was such a bitch, I only used one screw instead of two during the re-install.

Also, beware the plastic hose that runs to the PCV on the back of the valve cover. It's very brittle and will break easily - I used heater hose and two hose clamps from Autozone to repair.

That was on an 06 325i E90.
