We're working on some stock style throttle maps for Stage 2, Stage 1 + FMIC maps, and general map revisions! The BMW group is on the dyno and at their desks cranking out some really great maps. The Stage 1 + FMIC is looking awesome.

AWESOME! Any idea when Stage 2 will be out of Beta? Have you guys figured out the boost oscillations and overall choppiness in Stage2+FMIC Aggressive maps?

Example:

The above is a 3rd gear pull on part throttle on a relatively cold day.

Thanks

What happen to all the throttle maps? Thought they would be out by now, any updates on that COBB?

They'll be released with the public non-beta release of Stage 2

Stage 2 is pretty much rock solid. They should have taken it out of beta a long time ago.

Ive actually run 12.3 with the same weak 2nd gear launch on a track which spit out incorrect trap speeds after this run.

I don't care about ET though, more interested in trap speeds. I want to crack 120 mph full weight but I think that will be quite hard to do. e90s are fat pigs full weight!

I believe they want boost reporting at high rpms to be correct and all throttle maps included before they bring it out of beta... It is an awesome map and there's nothing wrong with using the beta maps for now. I've been a beta tester for multiple different products and these definitely don't feel very beta.

Yes actual boost and load reporting would be useful. To this day I have no idea what my boost curve looks like. just what others tell me.

I'm actually the exact opposite. I mean trap speeds are awesome as far as getting an indicator of power but ET determines who's actually FASTER from point A to point B. Not to mention ETs are more consistant from track to track due to them being a direct reading, not a "calculation," so to speak.
If i want to know my car's potential i'll go to a dyno, if i want to know what it'll actually do thats what the track is for. But thats just my opinion, some people look for different things in their car. Im gunning for 11.9@115 on stage 2 with weight reduction and slicks(NOT drag radials, i mean crinkle wall slicks) on my 135i.
But im 2 1/2 hours from the nearest 1/4(bristol) so track testing will be few and far between

I bet I could crack 11s on street tires if they're heated up enough and I get a solid 1st gear launch. These soft 2nd gear launches I do are good for consistency but not optimal for ET. All I really need is to be .33 faster and an aggressive 1st gear launch should accomplish that.

That's on the stage 2 alpha race map, right? Im not going to use meth, im just not a fan. so im just gonna stick with the stage 2. Im also kinda keeping my goals conservative so (hopefully) i'll be pleasently suprised.

Stage 2+FMIC aggressive is good for 117.7 mph trap speeds. I've seen this with my own eyes. The same car on the race alpha trapped 120.3. This was on a 135i manual full weight with a 260 lb driver.

I have trapped 12.3 and consistent 12.5's with Stg2+ no problems. I did like 8 passes 3weeks ago none of the passes were above 12.5. and all on Yokohoma S drives regular street tires.. So meth is really not needed for mid to low 12's.

I see what you're saying but remember the guy who runs 12.4@118 will beat you on the streets / hwy and will ultimately have the faster car. He is only limited by traction; you are limited by power... One thing is much easier to fix than the other.

+1, and on the streets where people don't race from launches which ultimately are stupid and may result in broken diffs / shafts / axles.

?? The street is much EASIER on your diffs/shafts/axles than the track. Traction is the killer of those things...

That's 100% correct but ultimately launching is launching no matter where it's done and is much harder on your car than doing rolls which is why I think 1/4 mile times are not relevant for the street because how many people will be racing from stop lights or dead stops?

... Well.. I don't go actively looking for races on the highway because typically you end up doing 50+mph over the speed limit at the end and a lawyer would have a hard time getting you out of that one if you're caught.

Now if I'm driving casually and someone pulls up to me at a red light, I'd be much more inclined to take them on as I can shut it down well before I'm at the throw-you-in-jail-without-asking-quesionts mph range.

But I come by that naturally.... my first tuned car was 91 AWD Talon TSi. In the late 90's I had it setup for quickest acceleration - No balance shafts, LTFW, ACT 2600 clutch, 2-step and sticky 235's at all four corners. The car pulled 1.59 sixties on summer tires and went 12.7@105mph. I never lost a stoplight race (aside from missed shifts, etc), but the car would get murdered on the highway
