Product is a champ for $100 no matter how you slice it.
I actually just got a response from a message I sent them yesterday (quite responsive!) Unfortunately they are using SBC "with maximum supported quality" (so bitrate all the way up).

I'm a little afraid to buy one, if it exposes any SBC deficiencies it's going to bug the hell out of me

I'm the type who has expensive speaker wires at home even though I know blind testing proves that I can't hear them (or my expensive amp for that matter). So I'm not coming from any kind of high horse here... it bugs me too a little to know it is low bitrate.

But I wouldn't take any bets on my ability to distinguish in a blind test whether my AAC music was coming from the hard drive in my bimmer, a cd disk, or my itunes over Tune2air. History and science demonstrate that I'd be a significant underdog in a bet like that.

But, it would be nice if they dressed it up to the higher nitrate. Maybe they could sell a $200 version to "audiophiles" that encodes lossless or AAC

Be interested to know if you can hear a deficiency in a blind test (you drive blindfolded while your wife operates the iDrive).

I promise you, I'm not an audiophile. My speaker cables are lamp wire from Home Depot, and my receiver is a good 15 years old at least. The difference between a good and a bad A2DP implementation is painfully obvious. I think the real problem is some songs expose deficiencies more than others, but as soon as you hear the problem once you can't stop.

Well as promised I finally got mine(I've been away for the past few weeks, it's been here waiting for me). Hooked it up in moments, and it's working great. Very happy so far, I'll let everyone know if I encounter anything interesting to report.

With all due respect, that's not even at the same level of the device discussed here.

I mean, BT Audio via AUX port in 2013? The worst quality audio interface possible in a car? Really?

wow, so this sounds almost as good as 6FL(usb)???. I am using USB stick for now, as this has decent audio quality. I have a belkin bluetooth device but dont use it as sound quality is horrible with my 2010' 335. And sound quality of Sat radio is really bad too even with my MusiCarNW stage II system.

So where is the best place to order this from???

Tune2air for track info/controls, Direct Wifi for music

I just ordered this and am so excited. Steering wheel controls and I don't have to take apart my dash!!

So for you audiophiles, I'm thinking you should use two devices. Tune2air plugged into the usb ycable for steering wheel controls and track info on the display (but not audio). Then use a direct wifi device for actually transmitting the music, such as: http://www.amazon.com/Phorus-PR1-Rec.../dp/B007RFMRBG or an Apple AP. Plug this device into aux and configure your phone to play though Airplay (or android equivalent).

Does this make sense to you guys who need lossless? It still seems cheaper, easier than all other solutions.

When you used it did it mess up your bluetooth for phone calls? I could care less about album/track information, but I have to be able to send/receive calls.

I got this device (significantly cheaper), which works as follows:
1) Streams perfectly through bluetooth
2) Prevents me from using the BMW solution for phone calls (6FL) since I suppose the Android can't connect to both the car and this device for A2DP.
3) No album/track information
4) Volume only through steering wheel controls

I'm using a jailbroken HTC One with Android 4.3.

There are many many solutions for bluetooth without steering wheel controls... (check out blackberry thing) the key to this device (and paying $95) is that when Miley comes on my pandora I don't have to frantically dig my phone out of my pocket, I just use the SW controls.

Exactly. If you want a wireless aux-in cable, that's $10 on DX. The point of the thread is that we're super excited to be able to spend $100 on a full integration solution.

I think my point was more exploring the extent of how it works with Android. Sure everyone's happy with it's iPhone functionality - but I don't have an iPhone. I'd probably buy it if I could do both stream through A2DP and have regular phone calls through the 6FL on Android. If I can't confirm that it can do both of those things then no thanks.

Sorry if that wasn't clear.

Cheaper options?

What's the difference between the $99 Tune2Air solution that everyone is talking about and some of the $15-$30 30 pin to bluetooth adapters that Amazon sells?

Update: Got the device but it doesn't work with Galaxy S4 even with the latest firmware. My radio keeps switching from "searching..." to showing the ipod is connected. It switches about every 2 minutes and disconnects audio when it does. I'm very sad btw, I have combox, no idrive.
