Nemis,
Ok, Now I understand. Everything is correct and is how it is supposed to be. Yes, if you turn off the car while hidden is active, and then turn car back on – the hidden menu WILL NOT be active again. And yes, you have to go again to menu 19 and re-enter code AGAIN. In other words – the car does not memorize the code once you entered it. It will ask the code every time you try to go there. This is apparently how they programmed the computer. At least this is my understanding of it. Don’t worry about you English. It is not my first language either mike

hi there - I drove my new 325 to Ballarat last weekend, past the overhead radar speed sensors. With speedometer indicated speed steady on 110 km/h under cruise control, radar speed displayed was 102 km/h. On the return journey, speedo indicated 115 km/h, radar speed displayed was107 km/h. There has been much talk about the accuracy of the radar, but at least in my case the 8 km/h difference was consistent. If you want to get another fix on your speed, the nav system has a stopwatch function which could be used to time the car over a known distance. Or try a hand-held GPS unit in "speed" mode. Also makes you wonder if the nav system's speed measurement is the "actual" speed shown on the car's read-out.

Mishenka, you have asked for a translation. I'll do my best to add to the list from p. 1:

It is accurate, but not precise. Essentially, it boils down to BMW erring on the cautious side by running it 5-8% faster than actual speed because of European regulations stating that speedometers can never read less than actual speed. Plus over here in America, can you imagine the litigations if someone was pulled over by the cops going 80mph when he thought he was going 75mph according to the speedo?

How does it compare with the actual speed shown in the hidden OBC menu? For me, the actual and shown speed difference exists. But it's not that much of a difference. 3-5km/h when going at the range of 50-100km/h. So definately not 5mph difference.

Without using a GPS system (and even these aren't accurate if they can't get a fix on enough satellites) you will never get an accurate speed indication on your dashboard. This is because as the tyres wear down they will change their rolling circumference, and this will also change with varying tyre pressures. The result - inaccurate speed indication.
All manufacturers set their speed conservatively so that drivers avoid speeding fines, and so that they also effectively drive slower which has been shown to reduce the severity of a collision outcome. In some jurisdictions in Australia you will be booked for going 1 km/h over the speed limit, in others 3 km/h and others 10km/h. When I am driving in the less tolerant states, I am happy that my speedo is optimistic. Anyway, as you will find and as I have stated, all manufacturers do this, getting an accurate speedo means that all the other traffic will suddenly appear to be driving slower (they will be sticking to the speed limits as indicated on their speedos). I don't know about you, but I would find this more frustrating, than the knowledge that my speedo was optimistic.

Ok, I unlocked the menu and compared the speed on it to my GPS. It was in km/h rather than mph, so I had to change the readings on my GPS to km/h as well. Anyway, I took measurements on the interstate with the cruise control set, and the digital speed on the dash was consistently 1 - 2 km/h faster than the GPS reading. So, for example, when the digital speedo said 124 km/h, the GPS read 122 or 123 km/h. While the digital readout was still a little optimistic, it is much closer to actual speed than the speedometer was showing. Now, if I can just figure out how to make the digital speedo show my speed in mph rather than km/h.
Also, is there any way to adjust how far off the displayed speed is vs. actual speed? Quote:

Here in the the state of Georgia, speeding tickets are generally not given out for speeds lower than 14mph over the limit. There are some exceptions, but if you have an extremely accurate speedometer you can generally travel 13mph over the limit without getting a ticket, especially on highways. If you can't trust your speedometer, you are screwed.

Can someone make a step by step instruction on how to unlock number 08 or the speed? I really want that so I can know my exact speed on the digital screen.
Thanks.

This was the explanation I used to do just what you are asking. It specifically explains how to unlock Menu 8. You have to do it every time you start the car, though. Plus, on my car, it was in km/h which was pretty much useless to me.
