That is excellent news! Thanks for the update. I had a look on forge website but did not find anything apart from the 135/335i intercooler

Already got the injectors planned out. I am planning on using the old 530d ones as they should be (hopefully) a direct fit and are higher flow. Only problem is this will create alot more black smoke unless something is done about the air intake. Any ideas?

I had my Forge Motorsport intercooler fitted before christmas and followed that with a remap at P Torque on 4th Jan. Its a 320d originally with 177hp. It was then remapped a couple of years ago (at another tuner) to 191hp and now with these mods we achieved 223hp and 330 lbs torque which im very pleased with : )

Thats a good result! Although the previous map you had seemed a to be a little low compared to what you could have got. People have reported 215bhp on standard 177 .20d engine. Even if you look at it that way a 8bhp increase from the IC is very good! Id imagine during the summer months it will feel alot more powerful.
Still no news from Forge, really gutted as i really want to get this mod done! |

give them a call, they will take orders now.
they may even do you a deal as you'll be the first 1 series customer and the fittings may need some changes over mine. And yes your right, the previous map on mine was poor, I went to the wrong tuner first time round ! Quote:

the car goes really well now, it feels well balanced between weight and power and I love driving it more than ever. the quaife lsd is working well too which is definitely aids grip. Plan in the summer is to remove the turbo and service / upgrade the internals, mainly to ensure reliability but also to see if we can produce a hybrid out of it with more pressure and a few more horses - i know a local guy that does this (he runs a subaru rally car so knows his stuff on turbos). We may even experiment with other larger turbos, either way it'll be cheaper than paying for a blown turbo repair later on so money well spent imho. Injectors would be another step but i cant see the value in doing it. If the hybrid turbo gets the car to 230hp i'll be happy with that. Im not considering a dpf removal (prob a 5hp gain) as id rather have a smoke free exhaust. the only other planned mod i have is to put winter run flats on my 18s for next winter, then for spring 2012 i'll be buying some oem 19s with continental sport contact 3s (non run flats). Ive not done any 0-60 times, but with the way the lsd pulls the car off the line and the extra power/torque pushing it on it must be significantly quicker than standard....might have a go using the gps Im open to suggestions on other mods but im happy with it now, and it still returns 50+mpg at 80mph cruise !!

The Forge IC was made only for the Face lift 1/3 series not the pre FL. Which is unfortunate as id have had one off them.
There is someone i have talked to about turbo modifications on the PRE Face lift garret or mitsu unit and you can have your old unit reconditioned (as long as the internals are good) for about £700 or have a whole new unit for about £1000, this should give you about 40 - 50 more horses! As said there are more things you can do to these cars like DPF removal and decat that will give more power out but will result in more smoke! |
