WTF? $124K for a 335i I lived in Brissy for 2 years (never had a car) but I had no idea that prices were that insane. Here I'm thinking $45K USD for a 3 series is getting ridiculous. Do most people have company cars or car allowances? I know I was never offered one. Do you lease or traditional car loan? Do you just pay GST or are there hidden taxes as well?

luxury car tax above approx $58,000 AUD at 35%!
Not sure if people have car allowances or company cars My employer (the government) gives an annual car allowance ($19,000)... don't know how this compares to private organisations - you can either take a fleet car (salary sacrifice), or get the allowance paid as extra salary |

I did create the green list thread so we know where to go for great service, where no prejudice exists. Post and check it out every now and then. |

A bit of an old thread but thought I'd add Canterbury BMW (NSW) to this list. The whole buying experience from these guys was not at all pleasant. The salesman was never polite and was rather argumentative; surely this is not the way to deal with a sale. The whole delivery experience was a nightmare, the interior did not appear to be detailed, had lovely black smudge on the driver's seat. The front bumper had a scratch running down the front right hand side, (which they finally agreed to fix professionally, instead of the touch up paint). The whole process was absolutely disgraceful. I spoke to the general manager about the experience and politely told him I would not shop here again.

I'd do more than just speak to the General Manager - I'd demand some recourse. I had a similar experience (without the damage) at the old Alto BMW in Pennant Hills - when I offered an amount during negotations, the salesman said to me: (he chuckles then says....) "I'm sorry - We don't prostitute our cars - I'll speak to the manager though". I wrote a long letter to the manager telling them how appalled I was, and got some freebies plus when I bought my E90 from them (after they re-proved themselves - they are now 10/10), I can honestly say I can't expect better service - nothing is ever too hard and it has been consistently good for 3 yrs now. Mind you, I've given them other people's business amounting to about $300K so so they should be!!!

DAM my old thread, i totally forgot about it. Id never give ALTO any business until they fire the guy that was a absolute jerk to me. This guy ruins the reputation of ALTO, and from other ALTO stories it seems like ALTO has had major customer related issues . ALTO HELL

I figure one or two bad pissed off customers per month or so isn't going to break their dealership, so they can afford to be a bit arrogant to us.

My old man once bought a brand new car on credit card! He pretty much said to them, you want the sale you'll do it... and they did.

Oh on the worst BMW dealerships, BMW sydney are useless and their service team is worse, BMW Melbourne (Kings Way) are nearly as hopeless, i once walk around the entire dealership twice (there was no other customers in sight) and wasn't approached once, so following that i walked out and took my business elsewhere. Alto BMW take the prize for the dumbest salesman on earth, had a guy trying to tell us the 335i we were test driving (for fun btw) has 20"s on it when they were the standard 18"s and that i would be 125k+ for a 335i coupe, who then tried to tell us that carbon black was now on the colour palette as optionable metallic paint (when its not!). My friend and i just sat there looking at the guy like he was a retard. Now i know i'm pretty well read and upto date on these sort of things, but a little bit of knowledge wouldn't go astray, for gods sake the guy had been there 5years!
Think i'm done venting for now....

when i was pricing up a new convertible, they didn't know that a partiular colour combination was ever available (this is alto), they said it would be an individual! it wouldn't have been, appart from the leather... i wanted imola with individual leather... they said it wasn't available, but i knew it was, olny with the sport package (which i was getting anyway..)

I wonder if anyone from Alto has read(s) this? Maybe someone should send the dealer principal the link to this post/forum..... Might be handy if they want to sell a few more vehicles...
