Wow. I thought this was a cool forum. Now we have people calling other people assholes. That's a shame. If someone dinged my new car at the dealership, I might not blame the dealer, but I wouldn't be too happy about it. And I sure wouldn't appreciate being called an asshole.

Guys,

THIS FRIGGIN PLACE IS ALWAYS PACKED...

Take a minute and look at his M3 pics... SEE THE TRAILER UNLOADING CARS IN THE FRONT... the only open spaces are as follows... 8 or so in the front... SOME OCCUPIED by new almost sold/not sold cars and 3 or so on the left and front side again occuppied by new cars (SUCH AS THE M3).

and there's even less parking in service.

The dealer should good-will the repair and be done with it. but i do see their side completely. HOWEVER that being said i know the sales guys up front and they are cheaper then my x-wife in a locker room. so if the new management "boardwalk honda/bmw" feels the same way. doubt it will happen.

I was responding to Firstclass' note. No offense to anyone else, I just think people shouldn't call other people names on this forum. Especially BMW people. Reinforces an unfair stereotype.

I'm still curious how he was parked in that over-congested lot? If he was double parked so his car door is behind a line of properly parked cars then I dont see how the dealer could have prevented the problem. They may have a lack of parking but he came to the dealership to talk with a friend & not conduct any business. Judging by the dent and that he thinks it was the license plate of another car that punctured the door I'm guessing he was not parked in a proper parking spot when it happened. He needs to take some responsibility for how/where he parked his car. No parking spaces left & not having any real, immediate business at the dealer I wouldn't choose to leave my car double parked in a packed lot.

Also, who told him it was an employee?

I feel for the guy but I dont think I'd blame the dealer unless I could prove it was an employee that hit the car.

Garage List
Dont feel bad...with one of my old cars..the mechanic was moving it into a garage bay ..and drove it into the workbench..hitting the accelerator instead of the brake pedal. Yes, they fixed the car ..but it took two visits to get it right..new bumper, new lights...new grills...paint entire hood...etc..etc.

I mean, i understand if you sued or wanted them responsible if you slipped and you got run over by a car or something because they forgot to salt the parking lot, or you got injured... but your car... you didn't suffer any psychological damage, no wage loss... I don't think you have much of a case against them.

wait a minutes now, the drama is not fisnish yet. I have heard many horror stories about dealership bodyshop. Even if they agreed to fix the damage in goodwill, there is a chance they will create more problems (add more swirl marks or not do it correctly). If you have had tense arguements with the dealer, this could drag out even further.

Hey, someone got to look on the pessimistic side. Best of luck.

You do know they sold it right?

(3) dealerships sold for 84.5 Billion Dollors. I guess thats why they wouldnt pay $1000 to fix a customers vehicle...

Group 1 Automotive Inc bought it. They have something like 140 Dealerships nationwide...

+1000000000

my opinion? just another spoiled kid that was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and thinks the world is at his fingertips and is entitled to everything. my guess is you're < 20? maybe i'm wrong and i apologize if i am.

but in the real world, shit happens. deal with it and move on. being able to sue people over frivolous shit is what's wrong with this country...burglar breaks into a house, trips over a kid's train and breaks his neck has the ability to sue the owner of the house for placing the train in a dangerous place. shit like that irritates the hell out of me...

bottom line, as much as it sucks, there's no way the dealer is responsible for that act of "random violence." how do you even know an employee did it? if that were the case, i'm sure the dearler would be all over fixing it. the beaver post above pretty much says it all...next time you get shit on by a bird in a park file a claim with the city and see if they'll pay for your dry cleaning...

there's more to life than your precious car. if that's not the case with you, i think you need to reconsider life and reprioritize things of importance...

Considering the annual revenue of those 3 dealerships is estimated at less than $150 million I highly doubt anyone would pay $84.5 billion for them. The land those three dealerships sits on must be right on 5th Ave in NYC and paved with gold to be worth 84.5 billion.

How is this better? First you write that someone told you an employee hit your car. Now you claim an employee told you to put your car there then ask if that is any better. Since you have already talked to the police you better stick with the story you told them.

I feel for you with the damage but your posts aren't making it easy to have much sympathy for you. Good luck with the fix. If you are loosing sleep just take care of the damage out of your own pocket & get the car fixed.
