ZF filter is more like $50-60 on eBay. I bought this but they shipped to wrong address. Spent 1 hr on phone this weekend waiting to talk to USPS. They confirmed it went to Washington state even though EBay buy confirmation showed my name and address. I will get another one shipped or get PayPal refund.

think you meant "why didn't i go with fcp?". I was looking for a better price. I wished that i had for the sake of $6 because i bought several other things from fcp for same project. I pieced togther what i wanted as I already had 9 L of the Lifeguard fluid. Best buy is to get a kit with the fluid, gasket, filter, etc. I think the fcp kit was $120ish (no fluid) and i thought that was too much.

I found the stand alone filter if you search under 2007 B7 Alpina. I used this type filter on my 335 when i put on Alpina pan about 4 years ago. see link. Alpina is also aluminum with fins (not the steel one that goes on an E53 X5 w/4.4L engine).

It is cheaper than what I found weird lol. Does that alpina pan have a flat paper Gasket like regular pans? Not the integrated Gasket?

Okay, i went and looked at the rockauto part. It looks just like the OE plastic one but indeed the picture shows an aluminum casting. I looked at the ebay link (post #23) and it had a inside and outside picture. That inside picture looks like same as the plastic one BUT the filter sort of looks like its got nuts to remove it. It does appear to be fastened to the pan. Look for yourself and make your own decision. I'll be ready to see what rockauto ships to you. Please post a picture. I really wonder if the replacement filter can be bought separately. Hope so.

My most recent link for a filter is different than this and perhaps is NOT made to be used with your URO pan. IDK for sure. The filter i show will work for an X5M, E53 X5 (has a steel pan), or B7 Alpina pan.

No the uro pan is an aluminum replica with replaceable filter that bolts in thats all for sure. Just super confused why they told me many months out to retool it and all the sudden it's for sale. I'll call tomorrow and no the Alpina/x5 filter will not work on this uro pan. The uro pan filter I could always buy its like 45 bucks.

You could nix that filter altogether. I've seen it 1st hand, and can assure you it is next to useless as a lube filter of any sort. It wouldn't make a damn bit of difference with or without it as long as you change the fluid every so often.

Just got the pan in today. It's just a fiber filter to keep out the big stuff. Pan is nice but is a little rough on the machine finish. I would wipe it out and clean up all the rough edges before installing. I would install an external filter personally but not sure the microns lol. I would say for the money I am happy 🤑🤑🤑

How about some pictures, please? One with filter unbolted to see the revealed cavity would be interesting. I presume you have taken it out by mentioning the fiber filter. Thanks

If there's anything in your trans fluid big enough to get stuck in that filter you are probably only a few miles away from needing it rebuilt.

How's the drain plug, does it look sturdy enough for fluid changes? The plastic one scares me, it's so shoddy looking and feeling.

Certainly your business but storing pics in this thread is better in terms of easily tracking them down later. I couldn’t see the details of the filter end of the pan. Thanks for taking the pics.

If you wouldn’t mind, can you take one more picture please? It would be from above, internal side and a bit zoomed on the filter end. I’m trying to see the gasket. I’ve seen a bmw part (maybe it was a ZF) that was made to replace the one that goes onto plastic pan. It would be logical that this same gasket would work on your pan.

Other reason I wanted to see the filter better is it looks made of metal. Sort of shiny. Am I wrong about the filter? Thanks

Waiting on one part for my conventional setup. Doing the X5m pan method. Filter got shipped to wrong address and waiting on resolution /refund.
