Rick,
Two questions re: the switch... 1) How do we know what map is what, on the three position toggle? (Other than having a boost guage and flooring it to figure it out that way, by peak boost). 2) Seeing as how the car takes a solid few days and a few gallons of gas to adapt to a JB3, what happens when the switch is flipped from, say, the normal high boost to valet (stock)? Is the change smooth and immediate, or does the car then require re-learning, i.e. the same as if you were to uninstall the JB3 alltogether? Same question applies for flipping it from valet/low boost to normal high boost. Thanks! I'm guessing this under-hood switch will work just fine to meet the needs of my brother's car with the JB3. The fuel economy while in high boost mode is good enough that I can't see flipping it off for day to day driving. I really only foresee needing the switch on snowy days. No need for more power then, and most of the time you have the time to either see it snowing before you start driving, or know it's going to be snowing later, and take the time to pop the hood and hit the switch before you go. |

Is Low Boost lower than stock? Or higher than stock but lower than high-boost?

hey... rick
i have a great idea on the switch. Have you heard of "ScreenKey"? it can be programmed to display any text or graphic on its 36x24 pixel display. It uses a simple microcontroller to change the display and the backlight once the button is pressed...the graphic display with any different colors can be illuminated by programmable backlight... it's an on-the-fly configurable, multicolor, multidisplay button!! You can find the Datasheet here RGB24T Datasheet Example ATmega Code more info http://www.screenkeys.com/prod_rgb_series.shtml |

The screenkey switch might cost more than the jb3
Very cool concept though, I just think its too complex right now... since it requires a whole seperate microcontroller and power supply... bms is more into the simple approaches |
