Hah, thanks for the reminder. For me, I had to stay on the throttle right to the end of the right-side armco near pit exit. Anything earlier was letting a little fear get in the way.

When my wife starts screaming at me that I’m going way too fast, I know I am speeding!

Occasionally, I do listen to her and slow down.

I got pulled over once on the bike though for sure i was going to jail. cop asked if i thought (the 202 PHX AZ) was my personal race track told me i would die from the wreck Id die from the other cars running me over, get a new rear tires, slow down and have a nice day. not is such nice words but that was the gist.
I'm on that toll road quite often if I'm heading from San Antonio up to see family in Lockhart. It's a real gem and I can pretty much cruise at 105 mph without much fear of enforcement. But if we ever keep going up to Austin I definitely coast down on approach to Travis County. I've been hit with Lidar almost everytime I've entered the county line.

Assuming a road is very good, straight, long and stable... I think up to 120 MPH in a solid vehicle with a solid suspension feels relatively normal to me. Going above that is where you start to feel a difference... 120 to 150 is a major difference in feel. I've done 150 on a closed airport runway and it felt a bit sketchy even in a solid car.

Our X5 was not touched thank God, had a club on my steering wheel and a faraday pouch for my key fob. Police obviously don't give a crap about the car thefts, been going on for years. Scumbags drive them to the port of Montreal put them in containers and ship them overseas.
Next visit I will fly and will rent a car.
Ya, the road conditions suck, but it's sad when I visited Toronto recently that it's getting worse there too. Seems like govts are just taking liberties and doing the absolutely bare minimum in maintenance.

No idea about car thefts but I assume it's rampant in every major city (what vehicles were being stolen?); Dorval is supposed to be a really safe area. What I appreciate about Montreal is that even though there is a supposed mafia presence, there doesn't seem to be many gun-related killings vs other cities, so it's relatively safe.

It's all relative to the vehicle you are driving.

My F90M5 is smooth and stable at 150. Amazing car. And it pulls hard from 100-150. I once drove my wife’s E61 535xi at 150 on snow tires.

Ah the question of speed, sure we have M cars and want to drive fast in them because they do it so well. I live in Quebec, I'm a very careful fast driver if that makes sense.....I don't drive fast around other cars, too dangerous, someone can pull into the left lane and they don't see you coming that fast if your going over 200kmh, 200kmh in my x3m is a joke, super capable and you don't feel it at all, I start to feel like I'm going fast in this car at 240kmh, wind noise picks up a bit being taller than a low slung sports car, I have my straightaways where I know I can go fast......and honestly if I cop gets me at 200kmh plus, I would not stop. I a cop is at 0kmh and I'm going 200 plus, he or she will never catch me, ill go faster if I see the lights on 1km back....ok going off topic a bit, but never happened, hope it never does, but I won't stop, that why I'm careful when speeding, I use Waze as a guide if I want to go fast where there is no cars between a few hundred meters and slow down to speed limit as I approach cars ahead of me. I noticed lots of people are simply afraid to go fast, was (racing) a gls 63s the other day and I'm sure this car is almost as fast, but the driver did not want to go over 210kmh, I zoomed past,,,,another story.
driving fast or slow is a risk, have calculate the risk, and take as little chances as possible. like weavers in and out of cars, (not me at all,) just dumb and reckless driving, I'm fast at times but never reckless, ill only endanger my own life alone on the road and not others.....you get the point. stay safe. and drive fast accordingly.

In the streets ? 20 mph delta from close-by traffic or 10 mph above speed limit in a busy neighbourhood is asking for trouble. Your own skills have little to do with.

I agree. I never go more than 10 mph over the speed limit on freeways. I leave the hard driving for the track.

Tires have a speed "limit" of their own and winter tires' is (much) lower than the car's "regular" ones'. See the designation on the tire's sidewall. I recall a recommendation to attach a speed limit reminder note somewhere around the dashboard when using winter tires.

Yes, I know I was way over the tire speed limit but I was not sustaining that speed. The rating is for sustained speed. I don’t really like the handling of snows but sometimes they are necessary.

Hit 120 on I-75

I got to 120 on I-75 in Kentucky, and it felt like I was going for a leisurely drive.

I once got a Dodge Neon to 115-120, and that was an experience. I felt like the car was going to rip into pieces at any moment.

I was also in Toronto on that trip, the metro area has deteriorated but not as bad as Montreal. The roads in Oakville, Burlinton, Hamilton are still in decent shape unlike the West Island of Montreal. Cars stolen in Montreal are Toyota's, Lexus, Ford F-150's and and few others. Do a simple Google search for "Montreal Car theft". Like I said, every night there was a car stolen for 4 nights in a row. Other Hotels in Montreal experiencing the same issue, even those with underground garages downtown. Toronto has similar issues with car theft but not as severe. It's really bad for tourism, residents should demand action from their police force.

Ya, for sure the roads generally suck here, but I was surprised it's getting there for Toronto.

That's insane, maybe it's all corrupt involving hotel staff and/or police, who knows? Anyway, I dislike any downtown of major cities, they are all messes or turning into messes w beggars, increased crime, etc, so I tend to stay away.

Towns the speed limit is right. Rural roads that have good unobscured visibility, low to no traffic and in the right conditions, 80mph. Most rural roads 65mph so 10mph over posted. Highways with no traffic and the right car 90-100mph would be doable, I honestly never do that though as I like my low insurance premiums. Most highways were designed for 70- 85mph but to keep emissions and fuel consumption lower the speed limits are what they are.
