You are honestly trying to compare the dynodynamics dyno numbers (which read WAY lower than a dynojet) against some 135 that dyno'd in mexico and made nearly 300 whp (which are also totally bogus numbers and not inline with typical DJ N54 numbers either)? Seriously man, learn about dynos and how they work before you post up such a completely useless comparison.

A DD dyno will read ~10-12% lower than your typical DJ. That means the 370Z is making 280-285 whp stock (on a DJ)...or slightly more than the average N54 on the dyno (275ish). The N54 makes a lot more torque though, obviously.

Sure, but since the merge it feels like there's been something to prove coming from him. Dunno why.

1addicts need to prove that we actually belong here. The hatred that has come upon us horrible. Little brother in the end (135) > Big brother 335. People just give it shit due to looks. I honestly think the lines and styling of the car are amazing. I have been part of a positive community board for awhile, so please bimmerpost stop being a bunch of negative nancies.

didnt read through all the posts but the first few. my take is this:

370Z aint ugly except the rear is weird. i saw the car in person, it looks better than pictures.
sorry to say this, but i actually think the 135 is quite ugly. seen it in person and still don't like it.
imho, 370Z > 135 in looks.

performance-wise, i dont think the Z woulda dyno that low on normal dyno jet #s. most magazine tested 370Z 1/4 mile run that's in line with 335i, which in term is pretty similar to 135. i would say it's a driver's race stock vs stock.

We don’t need acceptance from some guys on an internet forum, I couldn’t care less actually. You do have to admit though that there is a bias towards the 1 series, looks aside. It reminds me of the Evo forums when the X came out.
It needs to stop here though. Jabs here and there are fine, it’s all in good fun, but at the end of the day we're all here because we love our cars, and a group of people who (sometimes) feel like they must assert their supposed superiority for some unknown reason is unwelcome and uncalled for.
Truth be told, very few of our members really wanted to join your community, we had a great little thing going over at 1addicts, but now that we're here it’s no wonder many members are so defensive considering all of the automotive bigotry (trademark!) we've stumbled upon here on bimmerpost.
We all drive cars, and we all love our cars, it should end there.
Do not even begin to materialize the idea that I am trying to gain acceptance, because once again I don’t need it nor do I want it. But we’re all essentially sharing an apartment complex now and you really shouldn’t hate your neighbors. With that, can I borrow a cup of sugar?

I sincerely hope all of your 20k post were not this kind of shit, piss off troll. I don't go to your forum and talk about how the //m coupe looks like a turd and will get burned by even a stock 135i in a straight line

Oh, the 1 series slalomed at 70.6 and had a skidpad of .91g's with 114ft to stop from 60mph ...The //M coupe at 70.4 and .88g's and 119ft to stop. I wonder which would do better at the track My guess would be the 1 with better braking, skidpad, and slalom and is faster in a straight line.

Back on topic, I went to the Nissan dealership and looked at a 370z. The interior is 100x better than the 350, but I'm not a big fan of the exterior. The car also just felt to big for a 2 seater IMHO. Thed drive was nothing spectacular and left me pretty disappointed. The 135i just feels so much stronger, and in a different realm with a chip.

Given a 335i is faster around a track than a Z4 MC, I'm sure a 135i would be.

Check out C&D's lightning lap from two years back. The Z4M got spanked by the 3er. I wouldn't be quick to challenge a stock 135i to a showdown on a road course, let alone a modified one.

Dunno why the 135i is being targeted as "ugly", most of Bangle's designs are and the Z4M, X6, X3, X5 and E90 are just as bad if not worse. Personally I think bangle designs look rubbish in pics and much better on the road...

Since getting my 135 I have had girls coming up and commenting on how hot looking it is - too bad I am married!!!

...but the X5, X6 and E90 are pretty much universally considered good looking cars, or at least less polarizing.

I agree that in person they all look a lot better but for me at least the 1 series coupe is probably one of Bangle's least successful design, I just find it awkward looking.

I personal pet hate is the X3, and the rear of the last X5.

Most successful designs are the 5 series, Z4 coupe, the 3 series coupe and new X5 in that order.

This may upset some other 1 coupe owners but I feel that colour choice can make it a good looking car ie black, white and Lemans blue but some others make it look um weird - especially sedona red!!!

You may be on to something here, the only one I have seen is in metallic red and it ain't pretty. My opinion on the rest of the 1 series isn't that much better but there is one which comes to my place of work and it's white with M/Sport bodykit and 18" alloys, now that thing looks so much better than the rest of them.

Not to burst your bubbles, but do you realize the 370z was on DynoDynamics Dyno? If that was reading like other DD dynos, it reads approximately 10-15% less than dynojets.

Don't get caught up on dyno numbers. Its not a very accurate measure of comparing horsepower. People need to realize dyno is a tuning tool.

Ex. I made 420whp on Mustang dyno with 93octane. Does that mean modded JB3 335i which pushes close to 400whp will run side by side with me?
No, because 420whp on the particular MD I dynoed is actually close to 480whp on dynojets.

look at the weight and trap speed to compare power. Not some sheer dyno numbers.

Well said, I have been preaching the same thing for months now and things become even trickier to explain when the results are for awd cars.

All the 135i's delivered in Australia are "M" packs and come with the top line wheels as standard - I think the "M" pack is an option in the US?. First time I saw a Sedona Red on the road I thought FUGLY but figured I might as well check out some other colours and was very impressed. Can you imagine a M3 or 335i in Sedona Red? Either would be considered FUGLY as well - its a really really bad colour!!
