i only get about 230 out of mine driving around town, have had up to 380 driving motorways!!
Used to have an E60 M5, could never average above 17 mpg and it ate up a tank in around 200 miles!! Great fun though!!

The m3 gets about 230-250 miles to the tank.
The m6 gets about 180-210 miles to the tank. Thats with a mix of driving, nectar points are piling on though lol.

you should buy some shares in Shell!
I predict I would get about 310 mpg on a full tunk but I've be filling up when I am down to the last quarter. Thats with daily commuting, motorway and traffic jams. I have noticed the motor seems more thirsty when it's cold and it needs to warm up more. It makes a deeper rumble though Last edited by Ham09; 01-26-2010 at 04:04 PM.. |

You can have fun in one but it's at a massive price that just can't make me like it - it's for sale Anyway, it's not a Beemer, so doesn't count...

wankles are small and light, but not known for great fuel efficiency.
I got 420 with mixed driving but it was painful. had to concentrate too hard, no fun. 300-325mpg my usual. Last edited by JoeyFiasco; 01-27-2010 at 02:04 PM.. |

I'll answer quickly so not to divert too far away from the original thread but yes, 14mpg is stupid, there's a very good reason why only one manufacturer puts it in only one of it's cars. Too tinny, no torque, drinks fuel & oil, sounds shit. Stick a lovely 3.0 V6 into an RX8 and it would be unbelievably better. And yes, that's why they are cheap, but as I got virtually £2k thrown into the deal I went in with my eyes open knowing that the false economy would probably be lost come resale. I'm a little amazed they're sticking to the Wankle in it's replacement (oddly called the RX7!!) but it's a whole new engine, with turbo, so could potentially be better. As for a replacement, tricky to say the least, another S2000 (if the road tax low, pre 06, but got concerns over the engine being similar-ish to the RX8 7 getting tiresome), another 350Z but a little too pricey, or possibly a Cooper S (but have a mental issue with it being a little girly unless I find a black/gun-metal one with big wheels). That's a whole new thread... As for the X3; I love it (much more than I thought I would). Not driven it myself since Saturday but the wife is very happy tootling around in it. Still looking very shiny and, even though a bit of a marmite car, I think it looks great in M Sport guise with 19s on .

Hi Everyone,
Just got my new 318D here in Poland. Picked her up with 4km's on the clock, combination driving lots of 1st/2nd gear due to the snow and Ice along with around 200kms on the motorway driving at 150-160km's. First full tank I've managed to get 920km's which I believe equates to around 571 miles. Well pleased |

Lately I get about 410-440 miles for 95% tank or 56-58 Litres. That is 50% around town/50% motorway and the car is remapped since end of Nov. That is actually the same than before execpt that with the cold I am sure it would have increased 5-10%.
Last year I drove to the south of France Fron London to Avignon through Paris, and I did it with the same tank (710 miles ) on motorway at about 75 miles hour average ==> Would have been cheap except for the Motorway fees . Arrived with only 2 litres in the tank Lol. phewww. |

I managed to get 500 miles from the last tank on our 123d auto, OBC showed 48.7 at the end and it is only a 50 litre tank comapred with the 64 litres in the 3 series, pretty good I reckon.
I would definitely have a new 5 series or X1 or similar with this engine, its a peach, remapped so it now does 0-60mph in 6.1 which isn't too shabby for a 50mpg car. |

I know the answer to this question because I had driven long distances every now and then, and I asked this question to myself too. I get 400-425 miles on the highway, accounting for occasional stops for traffic, tolls, and rest stops. Note: I tried keeping the speed between 75 to 85 mph when appropriate with the flow of traffic. I also try not to dip below 30 mpg, which was often is hard to do. |
