Haven't gotten a letter.

My car was in for service yesterday and SA told me my car was on the list - when they read the key it told them.

Didn't have time yesterday (said it was 1 1/2 hr) so doing next Tuesday.

Brought my 09 e92 in for power steering pump failure and sa mentioned recall. They had my car for 3 days.

45 min job i doubt highly. My interior shows signs of being messed with.

At the end of the second day sa said they will be woking on my issue now that warranty work is finished.

Why would my car take them so long to do warranty work?

Should I still get a letter if I am not the first owner of the vehicle? I have had it serviced at BMW a few times already so I assume they should contact me.

Has anyone actually had a problem with the recall. My car has been wrecked and while I was charging the batery. I took off te box and let the car run on its own power and it said charging malfunction. I don't know what to do. It did not do this at first only after I put the charger box in the front. Now I'm order to move it. We have to put a battery on the front and back. What do you guys think is it part of the recall?
The car Is in the process of being repaired

Had mine done yesterday. The issue is a connector on the end of the cable that runs from the battery in the trunk to the fuse box up front - apparently it can degrade over time. What they do is working inside the car under the dash they splice in a new cable to the end of the existing cable, and then connect that new cable to the fuse box. It's a 3 hour job.

Considering they have to disassmble the glove box area of the dash it doesn't seem totally outrageous. Actually I suspect that the times allocated for services that they get paid for by customers are padded a bit more than recall or warranty work paid by corporate.

Had mine done today. I've been experiencing electrical problems recently:

- clock resets itself
- doors won't unlock
- car stalled twice (shut off with every warning light illuminated)

Turns out it was all related and they have to replace the fuse panel as well.

There are two ways of completing the basic recall work. The SIB details complete replacement of the battery cable from the trunk to the fuse panel. This involves dropping the fuse panel from under the dash, removing the passenger seat and rear seat, rolling back the carpet, unraveling the wiring harness, R&R the battery cable, re-wrapping the wiring harness, reconnecting the the fuse panel, then put everything back together. Apparently they've worked out a less expensive method that involves only dropping the fuse panel, cutting the battery cable/connector, splicing in a new cable piece with connector and putting it back together. Hard to believe that takes three hours. I think they're just sticking with the timeline for the original SIB.

WARNING - just beware that if you tell them you're experiencing any kind of electrical issue (battery, electronics, etc), and they determine those issues are unrelated to the recall, you will be on the hook for the cost of the diagnostics. My dealer quoted me $140, but they ended up covering it because the electrical problems were in fact related.

I didn't get a letter but I had mine in for some service and they did the recall.

No issues to report before or after.

Had mine done Wednesday. Was going to wait, but the dealership said it would be until the evening. Put me in a loaner (2013 528xi) for my out of town trip. Got car back, no problems. No letter, just mentioned it with other work I needed done and it was performed.

Mine's at a local dealer right now for the recall work. I brought it in at 8AM and I'm still waiting.

I had mine done, basically I was told they splice the cable isolation and put new one on and change the positive connector going to the battery or something in those lines. This took over 4hrs to get done just FYI. You will not get new battery as there is no need for it.

As long as its fixed correctly, I've worked on recalls for other car lines and let's just say that I'm glad I don't own those vehicles...
