Be careful putting a wax on before the paint has fully cured (6 weeks). I did it once and the paint started sagging. It's expensive, but I would put a ceramic coating on it whilst it's in mint condition. Chemical resistance, abrasive resistance, UV resistance and lasts 3 years min. It's also possible to get an intense and deep shine now with ceramic coatings. Keeping it clean will also be a lot earier. I would highly recommend Andy at www.unique-detail.co.uk and go for the three coat with Diamas.

Agreed buddy on the wax front. Hence going with the above reply of PPF and ceramic coat to nicely finish her off.

I'd be careful putting a ceramic coating on it so quickly after painting. It takes a min 6 weeks for paint to fully cure and if you seal it before its cured it is likely to cause problems. Even if the paint was oven or IR cured it still takes 6 weeks to fully cure.

The man Ungie is a legend, his work is excellent and its amazing to think its not his fulltime job. If i was to do a project of this nature i would want him to do it.

Cheers. It's a massive undertaking but so worth it. Seeing her today after some polishing I am super excited and can't wait to get her back.

Have checked with a number of people and they've assured me it'll be ok so I'm crossing fingers LOL.

Should be all good.

He's at work again today/tomorrow/Monday.

So looking at Thursday for collection but will still be missing the window trim surround, etc.

Wow. Read this from start to finish on my nightshift last night. Nothing but respect for your efforts on this build! Incredible.

Being honest I'm still at a complete loss as to why you'd do all this to a pre-LCI, SE 335i and not just buy an M3? I guess it's for the love of modding LOL!

The archwork I was dubious about, when looking at the initial work... But I'm stunned at how well it has come to fruition. They look spot on! Your man has done very well!

This is not really my bag, but regardless, I have nothing but huge kudos for you, the efforts and workmanship being poured into this build. Looking forward to the next update already!

Thanks for taking the time to go through it all. I do surprise myself at the length of this thread

Well yes I could easily afford an M3. As at the start of this thread you can see I've had the V10 M5, and currently also have the V8 4.8 X5, so I'm not adverse to them.

However, I do have a slight addiction to modding, which unfortunately with ///M cars isn't cheap so even buying an M3 would mean it wouldn't stay stock for long.

Plus although having driven the M3 and many others I actually enjoy the 335i for it's all round nature and as a daily driver it actually is better than the M for that personally.

As a daily I honestly feel the M3 is wasted. I can't really enjoy the revs etc as on my daily M6 commute with constant average speed limits and cameras (plus the ever increasing number of unmarked cars I've seen now) means it's too easy to lose your licence to try and get it in the sweet spot on the rev counter.

I found this with my M5 too. It was just not fit for purpose and hence why eventually decided to sell. Don't get me wrong, for the attention she got, spec and unbelievable noise I do miss her but hey each to their own.

Also forgot to add, with the price I paid for the car initially (which was already well modded to start with) and the sale of some of the mods to fund some of the new stuff it actually hasn't cost as much as you'd think.

Some stuff I've made money on and with the huge amount of contacts I've made over the years the costs to achieve a lot of what I have again hasn't been as much as you may think.

Easy buddy.

Been a crazy long weekend at work and then currently sporting a cold and generally feeling like crap BUT yes I've got her back. Although realised I'd missed a headlight bracket which is possibly the cause of the bumper not quite aligning properly. So will be getting the bumper off and side skirts to tweak things.
