It does not show a check engine light. If your getting a SES notification you should check your codes. Pulling the plug has no harmful affects. The purpose of the flap is to warm the cats. If you live in a warm area it's not needed.
It will throw a shadow code so if your under warranty you will have to play dumb if the dealer see it. Fault: Exhaust flap control / activation of the exhaust valve / Outlet valve - Code: BMW 2F6C Other wise the exhaust note is awesome. |

I did this mod this afternoon. Guys at the dealership told me I could cut the hose.. I didn't want to do that because that would probably overwork the vacuum. I drive on the highway daily and will have to update everyone if droning is a problem.. I guess we cant have cake and eat it too.

it pops a code, trust me. the previous owner of my new car did the same thing JB4 picks it up. just golf tee it. its just as fast. did mine with an old dart tip, took no more than 4 minutes, you can use a bolt even, did that with my friends. just as long as the vacuum is constant

Anyone ever make a switch so you can open and close it with the touch of a button? If so, please provide some DIY instruction

Thanks for the quick response. Planning on getting a JB4 in the next few months.
I'll attempt a more thorough search before asking next time |

Just a heads up, doing this mod made my car instantly stall out in cold weather cold start. Would have to give gas for 10 seconds and then it would be fine. After replugging the actuator connector the car starts fine on cold start 2012 n55

I've tried to find these wires in my F34 (335i xDrive Gran Turismo) in order to try this mod. However driver side trunk doesn't look like E90/91/93. Any advise would be highly appreciated.
