I know what you mean about the Mona Lisa, although you can't get within about 15' of it and it's under thick glass. I suspect if you could get closer you might appreciate the craftsmanship that went into the painting.

Mona Lisa is an iconic art piece, no question. It's lack of size, the thick glass, and the huge wall on which it is presented at the Louver. I walked in to the room with great anticipation and left the room feeling underwhelmed.

Da Vinci was an amazing person. I was lucky enough to visit the Château du Clos Lucé when my wife and I were visiting friends in the Loire Valley a few years ago. The French, specifically King Francis 1 gave Clos Lucé to Da Vinci when he moved to France in his final years. Many of his inventions are on display there.

We were at the Missouri Botanical garden in St Louis today for the Chihuly in the Garden 2023 display. This is the 3rd time we've been to a botanical garden and seen Chihuly glass sculptures. Last time was at Kew Gardens in London, UK and before that at Franklin Conservatory in Columbus, OH. Today the weather was perfect for walking around the MBG.

Good on you! My wife would have lost her mind. She's a HUGE Chihuly fan-- she just went to Seattle a day early on her last business trip to go to the exhibit there, and last fall I had to take her to the Singapore Gardens so she could see the Chihuly display on the top of the waterfall.
