E92 Coupe Pics (from spypics to first 100% unmasked pics)

For a long time many people thought that the new 3 series coupe would be introduced at the Geneva auto show. It appears that it wasn't. So what major car show is now available to introduce it in?

While attending the Toronto International Auto Show a BMW rep told me that manufacturing of the car would probably begin some time in late July - August with North American delivery in very late August or September.

If this schedule is right they'll want photos and initial test drives in the September issues, at the latest, of the US car mags (usually on the shelf in early August).

With the longlead press dealines these mags have this means an introduction by late spring. What major international auto show is there to do this in? Or I have made a mistake in my logic? Will they just have a press junket and not even do a show?

I don't think so. What is the point of going to all the trouble of having a big introduction a month after the car has been seen by everyone and his dog at every BMW dealer in Europe and North America?

Well I may have just answered my own question. Car and Driver has a schedule for the major International Auto Shows. Go to http://www.caranddriver.com/autoshows/ scroll down and look at the right hand side.

The only show listed between now and September is the New York show on April 12 to 23. Do you think the coupe will be there. When alse can it be shown?

There is one on London England in May but it has not historically been a major show.

New York or Paris I say, I doubt it would be London.

However, BMW skiped the UK show last time but they are attending this year so who knows?

Hrm... if you zoom into the rear lights (from the masked pictures) it seems as though they MAY actually be LED's! Take a close look. The texture seems as though they are anyway.

are they actually LED's on E90?
I have LED on E39 and they are bright. But looking clothely to E90's lights yesterday i found that they look like leds but much weaker and brighness is not evenly spreaded through full length...
may be same will be with E92...

im starting to get excited... i see intercoolers in all these M3 pics YAAAAAAYYYY!!!!... turbos sounds awesome IMO

Those are great pics.... but they were posted a long time ago... see page 22...

I think it was one of the first batch of e92s running around with next to no clothes, i mean camo...

I dont think the M3 is going to be turboed... (unless I missed an entire line of argument about the new M3 having forced induction) what you're seeing is probably the extra large radiator for the extra large V8 engin destined for the E92M3...

Interestingly, in the article, they say that there will be 325i, 330i and 335i versions of the coupe. It would be an interesting departure from BMWs current paradigm of a entry level model and a premium version.

eh? didnt the 3er always have 3 models? the e46 had 320, 325, 330. the e90 has 323, 325, 330. what im wondering is, when the new top-of-the-line 3er is released, what's going to happen with the current 323...

what bothers me is BMW's departure from thier logical naming system... the last two numbers in the name used to show the size of the engin... but the new car with the a 3L turbo apparently will be called the 335.... and yes, the e90 325 having a 3L engin bothers me too.... it would make a lot more sense if the new car was called the 330 it or something like that.... (since ti means it's a wagon)

Actually the 325xiT is the touring version, or the E91.

I got mine through Zinio, which is always out a couple days before the print version goes out.

Anyways - Looks like I'm the boy who cried wolf...

The pics are from this months Upfront section, and after reading it properly, they are C&D's rendition of what they think the coupe might look like. i.e. Photochops

The rest of the article is everything we already know. 335i will have the twin-turbo engine, 302hp, 295lb/ft. They speculate on pricing with a 325i at $34k, 330i at $39k and 335i above $40k.
