I was going to ask why they would build that kind of hotel in that neighborhood, they probably got some kind of grant for it while the city is trying to "redevelop" the area.

It's on the fringe of a developing area. New conference center across the street, Country Music Hall of Fame attached to the hotel, etc. I suspect continued gentrification will put this hotel in the center of a nice area eventually. So I concur with your assessment.

I once treated my parents to a Hotwire trip to Niagara Falls. I had no idea what it meant by "city view." Sounded good. My dad explained it meant they could see where the tour buses parked and a few dumpsters to boot....

We snagged the deal of the century about a decade ago on our trip to niagara. A Canada side corner room in a Marriott with a direct view of the falls for $150/night. I'm pretty sure your standard Holiday inn costs about that much these days. I wonder if they still have that deal...

By the way I mentioned you in a thread in the main forum I'm not sure if the user name tagging system worked, though.

Had to share this story. On Friday My 71 year old mother decided she wanted to hand wash her 2004 Honda Accord at my house. I said that I would take care of it when I got back from the office. She refused and insisted that it had to be done right there and then. I had to run off to work so I left her the bucket, sponge, hose, Pinnacle Shampoo, Windex, and paper towels.

When I returned the soap was still filled to the top, and the bucket and sponge was bone dry. But the entire bottle of Windex was completely empty and all of the paper towels were gone. She washed the entire car with a bottle of Windex!

I’ll have to repaint her car very soon. Gotta love moms.

I got myself and my SO a two night with a dinner voucher thing from Hilton on the falls in Canada for like $300. Dinner voucher was for like $75 or something and dinner itself was maybe $150/$200. It was around Christmas time so I don't know about summer deals.

It was pretty cool, but being so cold, we basically just gambled, drank, ate, and screwed overlooking the falls from the 10th? floor jacuzzi tub.

When it's been swelteringly hot the last couple days (including yesterday where it was 102°F), it's suddenly cloudy, cooled down and even rained a tiny bit... Perfect break from all that heat and you gotta go to work... Not to mention it rained just barely enough to turn your decently clean car into something that looks like it was stored in a driveway for 3 months

Well, indoors in an older building so add about 10°F and unusually humid, which the latter is uncharacteristic of California... But raw, dry heat? I've lived in Vegas from July to September, man!

I want to like jeep, but they are among the worst brands in reliability. They always seem to be near to bottom in JD Power studies.

very comfortable weather....

go to Houston, Alabama or Louisiana when it's triple digits and mid 50% humidity...

Vegas can be 110 degrees, but as long as it's 5-8% humidity, it's not hot......

that goes for Yuma and Phoenix as well (I lived in Yuma for 2 years)...

desert heat feels good because the human body can stay cool by sweating...

with mid 50's humidity, the body sweats, but since there's so much moisture in humid weather, the body cannot cool itself...

you're essentially stuck in heat with no way of cooling off because you're constantly sweating, but the sweat cannot evaporate off your body, which is how the body keeps itself cool.....

50-60% humidity is bearable in mid 80 degrees - but once you hit high 90's or even 100 degrees with 55% humidity, the heat index shoots up to 117 degrees WITH no way of cooling itself...

Well, I grew up Northern California and I'm 60 lbs heavier than I'd like to be, so I got those 2 factors working against my comfort temperature, so you'll always find me in air-conditioned places or pushing the "MAX" button on my car during the day... Not to mention if I sweat too much it does give me BO.

yeah, from May to October, I try to stay inside as much as possible because being hot and sweaty isn't my favorite thing in the world.....

only time we get breaks is when it rains and drops the temps down into the low 80's...

once the hot comes in May, it's pretty much here til Halloween...

My Northern friends would ask me what the weather in South Florida is like. I always say: Put a palm tree in the oven, stick your head in it and set it to 450. Welcome to Florida.
