I hear that Arkansas is hiring, and every officer there is pre-authorized to PIT a fleeing suspect for any reason.....

Georgia State Police doesn’t play either. Those guys take policing to a new level (…which is really the old level) and I love it.

I get it there are times when pursuit creates more danger to the public than the crime committed. So let them run.

But having a carte blanc policy NEVER pursue will have the opposite effect IMO. Every creep will know they can run with impunity and WILL run. I do not know how CA police are expected to do their jobs with all the limits on them.

It’s that way now. California creates some very pro-criminal legislation made even worse by shills masquerading as District Attorneys.

And while it does embolden the criminals to run or loot, it has another effect as well. I have a buddy who is a cop in a red state, but a blue town - with that town trying their hardest to be more blue by the moment. It was kind of my hometown, so I hate seeing it.

But he says the criminals get off with so much - it starts making the cops have a "fuck it" attitude too. Obviously no cop is going to watch an old lady being mugged and do nothing, but how much effort are you going to put into something that you know will not be prosecuted? And I get it.

Then many of the old guard leave for smaller towns with real enforcement and that leaves lots of shortages and the kids they can get to come in are already "used" to this new normal and drive it further that way.

They point at other cities that are failing without realizing the policies they are promoting are the exact reason those cities are what they are.

They recently voted in a new mayor - who of course checks all the correct boxes - and who showed up to their victory party with a shirt that said "I'm the fucking Mayor BITCHES!" Pretty much sums it up.

That new mayor sounds like a class act.

You’re right about the attitudes of police changing. The “fuck it!” attitude is very real.

Which sucks, but I also get it. What can make a town fail faster than zero law enforcement? Especially a town already filled with emboldened criminals and a sky rocketing homeless population due to the welcome mat being put out?

That is a recipe for disaster - as many towns are finding out the hard way now.

I think they will have to hit rock bottom before the voters will finally wake up. It has to touch them personally before they change their views.

God bless you guys - don't give up on all of us!

Thank you for that bro.

You know what’s even more frustrating? We’ve seen the defund movement fail in every single city/state it was implemented, and now……Governor Newscum of California is talking about doing it AGAIN!!! The powers that be are determined to willfully ruin this country.

Hey, it's what FEELS good to the left. Not what the data shows. And it panders to a specific voter group.

We are doing a big 180 here in WA state. Went from super restrictive pursuit law and legalizing drugs to being able to chase anything for reasonable suspicion of a crime and drugs are illegal again.

Now if only we could get these spineless judges and DA's on board... Also if jail would take everything again, that would be nice.

You guys/gals are fortunate. We seem to continually be going backwards here in California. One of my partners just lateraled to Clackamas County Sheriff’s in Oregon. He’s loving it!

Damn, it’s like the true wild Wild West. I somewhat agree with what an earlier poster said until it touches home more it won’t change. But I don’t know about some of the whack jobs that are running around today. I saw one chick not wanting the guy who murdered her friend to go to jail because she had compassion for him. His mile long rap sheet didn’t matter either. I don’t know if these people got accidentally programmed to be naive or what. I guess my point is I don’t know if it touching home will even matter to some people because they are doing the whole new gentle approach.

I really don’t even know what to think about everything going on. All of the theft repercussions get passed down to the consumer with product price increases.

We still have lifetime medical on my department too, albeit only for me and not for a future spouse or kids.

You don’t have to tell me, unfortunately if I tell people while at work how I think they should vote I could get fired. So when people complain about what’s going on in the world I just tell them “vote accordingly.”

I looked into it, it looks like Seattle is entertaining the idea because no one wants to work in the dump of a city. Talk about desperation.
