It's really simple: do what you like.
The great thing about modding at our age and lifestage is that we've outgrown the stupid stuff. And we can actually afford to do things right. |

This is my first BMW. My other cars were never modded but all my trucks have been. Mainly lifted. I am 38 and hold a really good career. People I work with think I am nuts because I do enjoy my car as opposed to just driving to and from work. They also think it is weird that I am into off road sport atv and supercross. I ride motorcycles as well. I play baseball and softball on different leagues. So no, not too old to mod. Not tool old to throw out punk kids from center field at home. Still play my music loud.
Forgot, married with 2 great kids. My girl loves the bluetooth feature. Its cool that the car can talk to mommy. My boy, loves the monster truck. Thats my boy. Last edited by javi; 05-12-2012 at 05:11 PM.. |

46 here. Married, three sons, automotive career and starting a second business. I love cars and the freedom they can represent. My sons like me to serpentine on the way to school like McQueen in the Cars movie. I love to hear them laugh when I do it for them.

Too old to mod ?
Okay guys, I'm almost 69 years of age and enjoying my E90 very much. Regarding mods, as I have got older I seem to get more pleasure having cars that are completely mint and unmodified, rather like classic cars. I consider a lot of the body mods to be garish and boyracer stuff but as you get older you prefer a bit of class. I am actually getting to like older BMW's more every day provided they are as they came out of the factory. However we are all different !

Almost 41 and slightly modding. As others said your not to old if this is your passion. My wife does not like what I do but at least I am not hurting anyone while doing it.

Your making it your own, nothing wrong with that at all. From a young 21 year old working for a huge corporation if I saw one of my bosses or boss driving a modded car I would have respect for them!

Never too old to mod. However, one's taste to also grow as they age. I remember modding my first car, it was pretty ghetto due to funds.

In my opinion, there's never an age limit/restriction* for any form of hobby.
*Unless otherwise stated by law, I suppose.

:-) You guys rock, crazy weekend with Mother’s day and all. Didn't expect to have this type of feedback. I will say I've been obsessed with modifying my car since the Wheel and Tire purchase which I believe is the first and foremost thing to do. I honestly think the base 3 series is very plain and average, sorry if I've offended anyone. The Advan RS 19's just make the car and was a little worried about black on black but think it works. I’ve been lurking on the site for months now just soaking it in. Advan RS, Pilot Super Sports, TC Kline CO’s, Cobb Tune, de-badged, Solar Guard Tint, Carbon Kidneys, HW’d V1 and it begins….
Thinking DP’s and exhaust next but will I be completing the PUNK’d out car?????? I actually don’t care because this is possibly the fastest car I’ve ever driven……. The Cobb and TC Kline combo feel great and can’t wait for the exhaust. |

I'm young now, and I don't see my self EVER losing my passion (aka mod bug) for cars.

I'm late to chime in and I haven't read others' posts so as not to be biased -
I'm 41 and have zero desire to mod. I can see why others do it but it just has no appeal to me. I could care less if my car is considered mundane. It is what it is from the dealer and I just feel that if I modded it it would be that much less desireable later (plan on keeping the car until out of warranty and then will get another brand new BMW). That's the way a 41 year old "average Joe" feels.

You're never too old to tastefully mod your car.
I think mostly younger people have the full blackout theme and that's why you get all the weird looks from your co-workers. But who cares what other people and I think. Your car looks great and as long as you like it, that's all that matters. |

One thing I have noticed since having the dark, gunmetal wheels is there are a lot of them out there. Maybe a trend that is coming and I'm early. Wasn't going for the murdered out look. I WILL NOT TINT MY BRAKE LIGHTS. That to me that is the murdered out look.

Nope, you need to pay to play and if you have the funds go right on forward. But just keep the car classic because BMW look silly all riced out. I would keep it a sleeper and do performance modifications.

Def. never too old to mod, or be a car enthusiast. No car really comes out perfect from factory, and could use a little change.
In fact i am excited to get older in a sense that i will be able buy more expensive toys such as my mechanics porsche. |
