Beyond recalls done at dealerships, I do everything in my own garage. Download the Bentley manual (among others), buy some tools as you go, research DIYs on the forums, and have at it. I've saved somewhere north of $6k doing things myself just the last few months.
In Sac I couldn't tell you, but BoostHaus has a good name down here.

A. aren't do damn grabby and difficult to modulate for daily driving. B. don't create anywhere as much brake dust. I heard good things about Hawk greens but have no real world experience. I might even be able to host your pad change if I can keep my kids' cars out of the garage.

B: Akebono's are a name I hear over and over when people say 'less brake dust' but I've never used them Haven't bleed my brake fluid on this car but it cant be too different from any other cars. Gonna do my trans fluid and power steering again soon too

I haven't even thought about the steering fluid, but I did the transmission fluid change in my garage. Not real fun considering I had a leaking fluid transfer pump that made a nice mess when pushing the fluid into the pan.

Hey guys, newbie here with a 2007 335i sedan. Tomorrow morning I have an appointment for replacing the windshield weather strip on the top. Guy quoted me $65. I will post pics before and after and he says its much more durable than oem BMW rubber stripping.
Anyways I really need some help getting my smog done. Can somebody please recommend a place that does "special" smog. I have Cobb stage 2+ with VRSF DP without cats and intake cones with no carb sticker? Would really appreciate it. Have till the 24th to get it done. I would have swapped out the down-pipes/air-box but they are in socal so its not possible. I am in San Ramon/Danville area but willing to drive and pay extra to get it done. Thanks in advance. |

Interesting you bring up the top windshield weatherstripping. Mine is pretty torn up, with small chunks broken off all along the lower edge, but I assumed it was just because someone did a horrible job of replacing the cracked windshield on mine prior to me buying it (I saw the pics). Please definitely give more installation info on that if you can, as I'd like to get mine replaced too. Haven't looked real close, but I'm assuming it's just a rubber molding that somehow fits in a groove or something? Maybe something I could do myself...

Yeah just got it done this am. John said leave it covered for 48 hours and no car wash till then. Will post before and after in 2 days.
Its more than just the sticker. Its catless down pipes as well. Cobb is no problem as I can flash back to stock. |

Coilover install
Anyone in NorCal with experience / necessary tools to install coilovers? Just ordered a set, and not really interested in paying the shop 1800 for labor.

Welcome to the Bay Area guant0n. I'm new here as well.
Here are the pics of the completed weather strip repair on the e90 sedan. Crap resizing on forum for pics is a real problem. Below is the the Link to where I went. Spoke to John. Next week I will be taking my X5D foe a glass chip fix and a headlight restoration with clear coat. http://www.lowpriceautoglassdublinca.com/ |

Wow, I thought mine was bad, but yours was missing entire chunks. I've never really looked, but is this a common problem for all E9x cars?

1800 to install coilovers?! that is insane labor rate, most shops only charge like $200-400 since it should only take them 2 hours to do.

I'm Mr. E90witdarimz, I'm excited to be a member now because I'm always having problems with my pre-lci 325i. It's actually down for the count now.
Waterpump won't activate with the engine off during bleed attempt, and won't run with the engine off. New waterpump. No heat. CPU or one of the cables? |
