Also the wire you mentiond is reverse wire so i get that but theres a wire on the other end called backup light which isn't that long woudlnt be able to reach the reverse light so im kinda confused. See their diagram here

yeah, I dont know what you have going on there. Not a typical backup camera. Probably just wire it up the way it shows.

Maybe contact your dealer in the UK for assistance.

lol!! I might just buy another cheap camera which will have the power lead i can use which splits into power and ground at the other end. that will be easier. Also when will you change your rule about delivering to UK? I would have happily supported your business and bought from you.

quick question jeff,

did dynavin ever make an n6 with a built in disc drive? I bought a second hand one that was listed as an n6, but it has the disc drive, as well as a few other minor differences.

They made several I think one was the D99

They made several I think one was the D99.
They also had and Andriod Version.

The N6 is the only one without a built in DVD drive for
an e90 I believe. The no DVD drive makes it fit better.

yeah, the "N6" is the current version of Dynavin's head unit, there have been a bunch of different versions over the years. As stated above, the N6 is the only one that does not have a disc drive. So if you have a disc drive, its not an N6.

Finally fitted the unit and got to say it's awesome. My only gripe about it is that PDC doesn't auto turn off when you put the car into neutral or park but apart from that it's a great unit. I have the base stereo package and the spears sound a million times better with this head unit

I have a question about 1.2.0. If you use OK Google to play a track it plays the song but puts it at the highest volume and you can't then control the volume or songs from head unit or steering wheel and have to turn it down by the phone. Only way to get control back is to disconnect Bluetooth and reconnect. Does anyone else get this?

If its front PDC that you are referring to it acts the same as the stock system, it shuts off when the car reaches a certain forward speed. Otherwise it stays active for parking maneuvers.

As for OK google.....are you on A2DP when you do this? It sounds like your phone is trying to transfer the audio via the phone bluetooth, not the A2DP audio streaming.

I had this same question and I like the way this works now that I'm used to it. My car has front PDC and it shuts off after you reach 15-20 mph. Or, you can manually turn it off by hitting the pdc button below the radio and it will turn off when you start moving forward. At first it annoyed me, but now it makes sense why it stays on as you're maneuvering through a parking lot.

On mine, the PDC screen is always at full brightness no matter what setting the dimmer is on. Makes is difficult backing up at night as the screen lights up the interior of the car while you're trying to back up. Wish they would fix that.

1.2.0 seems to be better than the previous firmware, and I LOVE the Siri button. There are still some bugs that I experience from time to time.

Yes that's the same thing i'm talking about. Jeff its both front and rear. They used to turn off when the car was put in neutral or park. But now they just stay on until you press the button, turn the car off or start driving more than 15mph. So if you reverse, then stop and put the car into neutral or park it still carries on beeping. I think i would prefer if when you went into neutral it turned off automatically (rather than the need to press the button) but it is not the end of the world.

Unfortunately I don't think that is because of the radio. It is taking its cue from the CAN bus system. It shuts off the PDC screen when the car shuts off the PDC sensors. The radio is just doing what the car is telling it to do. It shuts off at about 15mph going forward. It will never shut off when in reverse. Please correct me if I'm wrong Jeff.

My complaint is that the PDC screen is always at full brightness and too damn bright when it's dark out, making it difficult to see out of the car at night when backing up. There are other issues with the screen brightness too. When you set it to be controlled by the car (i.e. Headlights on = dim screen) it frequently gets confused and defaults to full brightness.

Yes, the car keeps the PDC on until 15mph.....FYI that is exactly how my wifes stock X5 with idrive PDC worked as well.

When the screen dims is all software stuff, they probably leave it bright when on the reverse camera for visibility but I agree it would probably be best to dim the screen as most cameras will work well enough in low light situations that they will look fine even when dimmed. ill mention to dynavin to look at those situations to see if they can come up with something for the next firmware update.

Hmm that's weird it's like that in the X5 cos in the e93 would turn off once you took the car out of drive or reverse. It's should at least turn of when you put the car into Park!!

Hi Jeff. Quick question for you. If I was to upgrade the door speakers would you suggest to amp them and then run the rcas to the dynavin or just change the speakers and run them directly from the dynavin (as the stock ones are now)? Is it actually worth amping them or would you say running them directly of the dynavin is good enough?

Id always amp aftermarket speakers. If there good ones. You won't be getting there full potential otherwise.

Question Jeff,
I recently had work done on my BMW E90. When I went to pick it up from the shop, I noticed that all the functions on my N6 were not working. I could hear a music station but couldn't turn the unit off. The screen was blank and nothing worked, no iphone functions, nothing at all. Only turns off when I shut the car off. I've had the unit for over a year and have had no real problems to speak of, so this is new to me. Any ideas what may have happened?

thats not good....

maybe try unplugging it overnight, low voltage, dead battery, or something like that may have got something out of sync while it was in the shop.

Hey jeffb335 i just installed a reverse cam, there is any way to "delete" the green lines when i select "R" to reverse?

My cam has those lines already so when im trying to reverse i see 2 pairs of lines on each side, really annoying.

I noticed if i select the Cam from the menu, it show the same image from the cam but without the green guide lines.
