actually, it does support playlists on a thumbdrive/harddrive. Almost all music programs other than iTunes use a standard format for playlists. Just go into one, e.g. Windows Media Player or Creative's program, and make playlists. Transfer those along with your music files to your thumbdrive/harddrive.

And playlists just need to be in M3U format and 6FL will find them and set them up under the playlists directory. |

I didn't read every pages of the posts, but a easy quick alt is to just use a usb flash drive, the ones that are on the keychain kinds. just stick one of those in and works like a charm. quick and organized.

Yeah, we know..but we're looking for gobs of storage! I am using a 16GB flash drive right now but I'd rather carry my entire MP3 library so I don't have to pick and choose what to put on the drive.

Yeah we were discussing this above. You'll need a car USB power adapter to convert the power tap to a USB power plug in the arm rest, but it should provide enough current to spin up the drive. I purchased a splitter cable and the adapter for my Passport drive. Just waiting for it to come in...

Actually I ordered a 4200rpm drive (diff brand) a day or two after ordering the power cable and USB Y-cable. Found an 80GB drive on Amazon for $59. I'm hoping the 4200rpm will work for me as I don't really want the clutter, but if the drive doesn't work at least I can use the WD Passport.

From looking at the picture and estimating the size based on the USB plug I'd say it will fit nicely. I have a monster car adapter for my Razr that is similarly shaped, perhaps a little 'shorter' but there was still lots of head room.
I'm sure others will report once they get theirs but I don't see a problem. |

so getting another source of power via the cigarette lighter using an adapter to USB will guarantee to fire up any 2.5 inch portable drive?! im thinking of going for the new western D 250gb as thats gonna fit all of my music on which is the whole point of going the hard drive route really!
