Let me rephrase: If anyone with a year model other than cssnms would like to come in with for a test fitment to see if BMW changed anything in between years like they did with the N54 motor, please contact me.

Alex, see if you can get your hands on a MY 2009 (first year the d was introduced in the US), since this was the year BMW also put a different transmission in the car; not suggesting one has anything to do with the other, but it was the most material change between MY's so perhaps they tweaked some other things. I suspect there is no differnce between MY '10 and '11.

I plan on getting the JBD box soon. I already have a decent scan tool that will work on CAN systems also. Is the JBD CAN tool necessary if I already have a scan tool.
FYI I have a Autoxray EZ-Scan 6000. |

This is gonna be funny but does anybody have an idea where I can get my hands on one of the bolts that hold the engine cover on?? That's what I get for trying to be careful when I put the JBD chip in.. I accidentally dropped one down in the engine compartment and haven't a clue where it went. Maybe I could get an extra one or two in case it happens again. I just don't want future problems if god forbid I have to bring the car to the dealer and they ask why a bolt is missing.. If they even notice..

DieselD:
I lost the bolt that mounts lower than the rest of them. It came out when I was trying to remove the cover. In the future I will remove all bolts before manipulating the cover out. It took 1 1/2 hours to retrieve with a magnet bolt finder (the kind that looks like an antenna). I had checked everywhere and was ready to give up when I heard a faint clink. Removed the tool and there it was. I found it on top of the lower engine cover in the area hidden below the pulleys. It's probably the lowest point. Check there with a retriever if you have one. Wife gave me this kit from Sears for Xmas in my stocking. I almost returned it. Glad I didn't. As you know, there are many nooks and crannies where this bolt can go. BMW certainly used the entire engine bay. Last edited by hammick; 02-03-2012 at 08:27 AM.. |

In addition to your time and assuming all risk, it will also cost you approx $600 plus install if you decide you want to purchase their IC.

Chris I will be honest with you usually when I do purchase items I swear by them IF they work out!! But if I find a defect I will procede to notify the entity in question and see what we can resolve or whatever BUT!!! if there is no solution or I get tricked Fuck, TRUST ME I will lash out with evidence , READ my execuhitch comments and you will see what I mean on this, to this day NO ONE from EXECUHITCH has contacted me. The last thing I heard from them was OK PLEASE SEND me VIDEOS OR PICs that you took, but no one saying ok Axel were screwed up here is a differential and thank you for bringing this up we the 328i installation was the same as the 335d.
RENNtech has been a great product for me, yes its expensive but WTF I havent had complaints from the product for which I have used over close to 9 years on both my 02 MCS and now my 335d. So gladly I promote it!! Wouldnt you also do this? The same issue with AMSOIL which I have used to over 25 years in vehicles ranging from 82 VW Rabbit with GTI engine(yes, the GTI came in 83 but with frankenstiened this 4 dr Rabbit and installed a Jetta tranny in it!!) Also a 92 Honda Civic Coupe and 02 MCS and SOON!! the 335d when the 50k are done.
