To get back on topic, Canucklion summed it up with this;
I personally can't afford to spend $10k in mods to a $45k car. But even if I could, my priorities now are a nice home/loft first. I did purchase what I felt was the best vehicle in my budget; and a year ago, I'd be ready to drop 10k into the car before property. But now I've matured, and my priorities have changed. While visiting family for the holidays, my dad and I were talking money, and he made the comment "what are you more impressed by; the cars I drive, or the home I own?" Yeah, I don't want to be that guy parking his Lambo in the apartment complex.

haha... the $30k 'millionaire' i've been thankful to have learned early enough that modifying cars is a complete waste of time and money with little to nothing to show for it. |

Do you measure your achievement by sq. footage? j/k
Around here, we have no choice. With property taxes between 10 and 20 per year, we have to put money towards our houses at the expense of our cars. Most people who have the nicest homes in my neighborhood don't even have a BMW, I'm guessing with a 5-7k/mo. mortgage they're doing all they can to pay for their homes. But you go to the South side of town and they have the houses and the cars, and the 30k+ property taxes to boot. |

I agree with the priority of home, then car. But if you need to put $10k+ worth of mods into a $40-50k car (essentially 20-25% of the total value of the car), it almost seems like you bought the wrong car.
In my situation, I wanted a 3 series for many years but put it off until I was able to buy a nice place to live. My next goal is to buy an M3, Porsche Carerra S, or both. However, I will do this only after buying a 2nd home.

House > Cars
And yes I know people that drive $100k Porsches that live either a) in their parents basement or b) in some shitty little appartment. And yes, I make fun of those types of people. Because they can't even afford to pay for their own food. |

My friend's brother in law is apparently quite proud of driving around in one of his two new cadillacs, all the while living in his parent's basement...at 40 years of age. Very scary that parents actually accept this kind of behavior.

If you look in the section "black saphire" there are a lot of big houses behind the cars in strange colors and shapes. I looked at them course i was interested in the buildings in the US.
Its wery far from how we live here in Denmark - money or not. So i would be glad for some pictures of the houses. and the streets.

I realize the LA populace is as image-conscious as it gets, but when you think about it, a crappy house in LA or some other expensive area may cost half a million dollars. The average annual household income in those homes is probably $200K or more. A $40K car wouldn't qualify as trying to "look rich" at that income level. A $100K car would.
