I saw another thread where a guy went down to Advance Auto and simply bought a 45degree elbow and an intake pipe and another elbow of which the degree bend I do not remember at the moment and simply created his own tube from the MAF to the intake manifold for about $20 and it was less restrictive and deleted the silencer AND he kept his old tube so that he has a spare if there was ever a problem or for when he got ready to trade/sell his car. Using the caps will probably work fine but performance wise it makes more sense to make a new intake tube that it smooth throughout and will not have any problems.
