You can only own a Corvette if you are 50+ with a sweet porn stache.

No one is impressed because they see a Corvette on the road. They are played out.

Show me an R8, or an Austin Martin, then I get excited. A Corvette is just as common as a Chevy Cobalt.

Yep, stock C6's are running 12.4s in the quarter and thats on runflats. Thats a challenge for a tuned 335, much less a stock one. And that doesn't even count for the Z51 package that offers better tires and tighter gears.

Around where I live, a 335i is about as common as a Civic. Corvettes are far more "rare" than 335i's.

Not sure if any 3 series driver should be pulling the "car XXX is common" line. Dime a dozen seems to be the theme around here.

There are some guys nearby who own Corvettes. They wish they were 50! They look ridiculous. Plus, they seem to drive them so slow!!

I have the only 328i in the community. If I drive it slow, I blame the awful GM AT.

I don't get the kids these days. Street racing fairy tales are lame.

I figured I oblige and acknowledge, since we're all car enthusiasts and all by blipping the throttle a few times.

Light turns green, and I give it like 1/4 throttle like I normally drive. About 1/2 a block later I notice the douche was trying his best to "race" me. Having had a few run-ins with the law I decided to take it easy and "cruise" up to my speed. Next thing I know, the guy pulls up ahead and started flashing his lights like he just won a street race. So I decided to take a quick look at what BMW it was that supposedly "beat me" and it was badged a 335Xi?

So that was YOU?

3-series are everywhere, Vettes are very rare.

ps. base C6 is just as good DD as 335i, maybe even safer due to LSD. Z06 might be a little harsh.

I don't know where you get these HP numbers but I've been here for three years and even Dinan's top software package with oil cooler doesn't come close to even 400 crank hp. And it would still be much heavier than the Vette. Weight is the enemy.
Wow, obviously you know nothing about the N54. Dinan is not even close to the best when it comes to N54 modifications. Look at my signature. Downpipes, intercooler, JB3/PROcede, and intake is enough to easily beat a base corvette. 400lbs is not enough to hold the 335i back with those mods. I have personally beaten base corvettes, look at my signature.

400 lbs is good for about a 40 hp advantage. The formula is pretty simple, according to drag racin' folks every 10 lbs lost/gained is good for 1 hp, and the numbers don't lie. You'd have to put up significantly more HP than the base Vette to "take one", especially considering the traction advantages the Vette has.

If my "ricer math" is correct, you'd have to be pushing north of 500 to even get any significant advantage over a BASE vette. Maybe you're the guy that "took me" at the light when I was cruising home from work at 1/4 throttle?

^ I am sure it would be a drivers race, but yeah, Vette also has traction advantage over 335. Modded 335i is about the same as M3 and M3 is about the same as base C6

First off, this is a German automobile, so it cant be ricer. And its more like 55~hp extra. Anyway, a (properly modified) 335i will beat a base corvette end of story.

And yes I realize you can modify the corvette to beat the 335i.

My BMW S1000RR can beat any of the cars mentioned here--in first gear. At half throttle.

Okay, I don't have it yet, but when I do, "My BMW S1000RR..." yada yada.

We're not saying the 335i can't be modified to the point of where it can beat a stock base Corvette. But in order to do so, it just becomes not worth it because you will need to beef up parts so the 335i can handle the 500 or so BHP. You can bet that the 335i isn't designed or engineered to handle that much HP and parts will break unless beefed up.

WTF? Euro 2009 335i + DCT + LSD + meth + JB3/Vishnu + dp + exhaust + DCI + launch control WOULD Fkng eat a C6 Alive and get near a z06 believe me. If not with bigger turbos it will . I would excuse you guys because you can't import " Euro " cars to the US, wich is forbidden, the only 335i with DCT in the US is the 2011 model wich doesn't have too much tune atm, and can barely reach 360 HP.

I hope this thread isnt cross posted on Vette forums for comedic value. I was cruising around in my 997tt and ran into a guy in a ZR1. We stopped at a light and BSed a bit. I told him how much I liked his car, asked how long he had it etc. Green light we both gave it a bit to about 80 (meaning we shut it down quick). Two things I can tell you with certainty. First, as with almost any car in a street or track environment (especially mt), its a drivers race (this wasnt a race as much as two guys liberally using the accelerator ). Second, his car sounded way better than mine. Tough to beat a Vette on the bang for your buck meter. I guess adding a shit load of mods?

@ this thread. There is no way you took a stock C6. They are very quick for being a base model corvette. And as to all of this banter, people who buy C6s are usually older guys who don't want to fork over the cash for the Z06. I usually see old males or middle aged females driving C6s. Both are cars are really sweet. I would love to see the result of a couple pulls with a stock C6 vs. my car.
