I don't believe anyone who ended up running their car (technical problems with the dyno) got accurate readings. Could be wrong though...

happened last time too... why's everyone so surprised?

again, I might be dynoing the M3 next weekend and if people want we could rent for the day (fairly cheap rate) and split cost.

Hey Guys...

It was good to meet some of ya and thanks for letting me hang out.

As far as the dyno sorry it couldn't have been a better experience. I felt bad I had to leave early and couldn't continue to help out but had another car to tune down south.

As far as the dyno is concerned, I hate to say it but you guys really just got a little practice running the car on the dyno and thats about it. It seems like they have issues with the rpm tack pickup on the dyno, so any TQ numbers are going to be worthless.

In a dynojet, it will always measure HP correctly based on the rollers, but then it knows how fast you're spinning the drums and it knows your RPM at any given speed. All it does is calculate torque from HP via TQ = HP*5252/RPM. (as oppossed to a DD or mustang)

Without that hooked up, it cannot calculate torque but it can still measure HP (and will graph it vs MPH instead of RPM).

One thing you can check on your graphs is where the rpm left off. From the ones I saw the graph stopped at 5k even though you ran until over 7. OOPS.

If you really want a true estimate of what your car is putting down get on a load bearing dyno. The car will perform the same on the street as on the dyno.

Now some people also seemed a little to anxious about numbers etc. Now given numbers sell products, but you simply cannot compare one dyno to the other or expect the same results from someone else. The best way to determine if you are making power would be the following:

Run stock on the dyno (any load bearing) Then run tuned/changed mod on the same dyno same day. Ignore the numbers but pay close attention to the delta or the change. This is what matters. 98% of any dyno can easily be manipulated to read whatever you want so pay attention to the little details when paying for a dyno session. Make sure the weather information is correctly put into the computer and the car is not strapped down differently (tighter/looser) during runs. If possible run on a dyno dynamics in SHOOTOUT MODE. This is the only way currently on the market to get the same results from any dyno you go to. Its pretty sweet as you will have the same numbers no matter where in the world you are.

Sorry for the rant, but figured maybe someone would get some useful information..

Jake

Well, formally since I have a few...

I want to thank everyone involved with helping yesterday...Steve for sponsoring (I hope everyone realizes it wasn't your fault and it was the shop which is now blacklisted), Jake for going above and beyond to get what little we could done, Ry for trying to help.

I look at it this way...while I didn't get to run, I was happy to see all of you again and meet some new people. We give each other alot of crap, but for the newbies...despite our goofiness, we are a pretty good group of guys that I generally enjoy hanging out with.

It was a meet so to speak...had a good time.

See you all next time.

Is there anyone that would like to do another dyno day? I'm looking at doing mine at Sound Performance in Bensenville. Anyone else interested?

Cobb uses a mustang, if your goin to say that than the dyno you did Saturday is comparable to brians chart drawn in paint.
