LA tint in Alexandria did a horrible job! Avoid!
They redid my back window 3 times. And it still looks like S@^$. Even they said it looks bad, and they keep on apologizing. But they still cant get it right. |

My buddy owns the CarTrendz next to LA Tint in Alex. and those guys are fools. They seems to be a bunch of young kids just getting in the business.
I will probably go to Proform since its probably 15 min. away from me and their prices seem to be cheap according to Prowess..can't beat $175.00 |

I'm not sure what the deal is, but I've sent Rob several e-mails over the last few weeks asking for some tint info and have yet to receive a response other than the automated "someone will get back to you shortly" message. Rob used to respond within hours. I guess I'll be going elsewhere to have tint installed which is a shame since I really liked the quality of Rob's work.

I stopped by there (Performance Window Tinting) today after reading a lot of glowing reviews about the place. I think I'm going to have SunTek Carbon 50 or 35 installed next week (cost is $210 after the $15 off coupon). I'm not sure which quite yet. 50, when combined with the factory glass tint, results in a value very close to the 35% legal limit in MD, but 35 looks very nice. I'm probably leaning towards 50 since I have a black interior / anthracite headliner which will make the tint look even darker and don't really want to have to worry about possible tint tickets.

Having the tint installed tomorrow afternoon and now I'm leaning towards 35%. Decisions, decisions...

Ended up getting 35% and I'm very happy with the look. Performance Window Tinting did a great job. It took two people about an hour to do the work and the tint came out flawless.

Thanks DJ. I don't have a BMW but an A5...I'm hoping it goes just as smooth when I set it up in a couple weeks. Only thing I'm sort of afraid of is the front windows since just like the BMW's, they down and up when doors open and close. I know I had issues when a place in Mont. Co. tinted my 330 Ci which has the same feature and it didnt turn out as well as I liked.

Cruised over and talked to Matt at TNT Tint today. Seemed like a good guy, definitely knowledgeable. Car's getting dropped off tomorrow for a long day of removal and reapplication. Thinking about 25-30%. I recently bought an RD so I'm hoping it'll kind of hide that without being so dark it attracts attention.

Props for TNT Tint. Awesome job, reasonable price even though it took him like an entire day to get all the old shit off.

What kind of tint did you guys use with Matt at TNT? I had Huper on my previous vehicle but the shop that installed it was one that specialized in that tint since it is more difficult to work with. What do you guys recommend here? Also, I live in DC so should I stick to the strict tinting laws?

If you've got dc tags ur gonna have to pay cash and bot get a receipt if you go to la tint. It's illegal to put anything on the front door windows and the shops won't always do it. I've been through the process twice. One shop flat out refused even though I wasn't going to need an inspection for 4 years on my new car.

DC DMV Laws changed?
I didn't realize the front was completely illegal. I just saw this:
http://dmv.washingtondc.gov/info/for...aiver_pdf.shtm DC law allows the after factory application of window tinting in motor vehicles (DC Official Code § 50-2207.02), provided the following requirements are met (Mini-Vans are excluded): • There must be at least 70% light transmittance (i.e. 30% tinting) through the front windshield or front side windows; and • There must be at least 50% light transmittance (i.e. 50% tinting) through the rear windshield or rear side windows. However, less than 70% light transmittance is allowed in the windshield above the AS-1 line or within five inches from the top of the windshield. |

For the e92 owners that went to TNT Tint, can you answer the questions below?
Which film was recommended? How long was the process from start to finish? What did he do about the dot matrix? Any effects on electronics? How much was the cost? Pictures of tint done? |
