$525 for LSD diff $200 for axles $85 for driveshaft $15 for driveshaft bolts and washers $250 for driveshaft shortening $1075 is what I'm into it. That's what I managed just trolling Ebay for parts. |

Recently? That's dirt cheap. It's getting harder to find at a decent price.

That'd be great if possible but I've heard the subframe is totally different.

Non M F-series have E-series diff but with different rear cover. M3 F-series has front and rear adapter plates to mount on the subframe. So you can mount it on non M subframe but the LSD unit is electronically controlled. This is the reason they are cheaper than E-series m3 LSD. Due to electronics isn't possible to retrofit on another vehicle.

In my view the electronic part isn't that hard and would make for a nice adjustable feature when in sport mode. Any links to anyone that's tried ?

What Im suggesting is that it doesn't need to be constantly variable just needs a fully open and an x amount closed position...

Also m3 brakes etc would be a good investment with power upgrade plus I plan to take some of the weight out the car so less stress on the parts coupled with the fact other than the professional nav I have no extras on my car so far less stress other than a lil more torque than an m3 |

Got a few questions if anyone has any answers:
1. I have an e92 2012 335i auto, anyone have the length of the modified drive shaft? 2. Do I need to change any electronics after installing the m3 diff? 3. Does the diff need any balancing? 4. How much power can the e92 m3 diff handle? 5. Do I get the m3 drive shaft auto or manual? does it even matter? Thanks =) Last edited by Chris1337; 07-12-2018 at 08:30 AM.. |

Long time lurker over this thread and just wanted to chime in and say that these swaps are still available pretty cheap; I’ve found entire M3 rear ends for $2000 or less and that includes everything needed for the swap plus rear M3 subframe, springs, shocks, wishbones, arms, sway bar, and brakes. I would strongly suggest finding a donor or contacting a specialty BMW salvage yard that has a complete donor to pull from and will let you inspect/observe the removal; that way you know you’ve grabbed everything and you don’t nickel and dime yourself to death with hardware/misc stuff. I managed to pick up a swap for my personal car with only 36k miles for $1500 from a local BMW specialty yard and will probably be looking at an even cheaper investment after I sell off the misc parts I won’t be using Honestly best bang-for-the-buck LSD swap and much more bugdetarily friendly than brand new 335i Aftermarket LSD and Aftermarket Axles. Would fully recommend for daily driving/occasional AutoX use; plus the upgraded axles, beefier housing, and massive heatsink are a huge bonus. I’ve driven behind many M3s before and the heatsink is so large and noticeable from fairly far away; it’s that big; definitely feel secure having that thing sit back there Aftermarket stuff is always an option however if you’re looking to put down serious dyno-killing power; but then you could always look into aftermarket M3 stuff anyway and enjoy the benefits of both worlds Cheers ya’ll

sorry to revive a old thread. So with the addition of the new xdelete app that released last week. Can we do this swap on a 335xi with no problem? I would imagine its the same swap other than more shortening of the drive shaft to fit into the xfer case. After the swap code out the e-diff. Did 335xi's maybe just become mini F90 M5's?
