Exactly! Situational ethics are no ethics at all.
Having said that, a lot of people are mixing in a lot of different "what ifs" and "maybe this and maybe that." There is no doubt that Bimmer dealers are pretty low on the ethics totem poll, but that does not give anyone the right to act in the same way. If you don't like their behavior, then why do you want to behave like them? If BMW NA upgraded the wheels for free, which seems possible, then you have no obligation to give them back and they should be exposed for the snakes they are. |

Interesting. Something kind of like this, minus the dealer playing this stupid game, happened to me less than a month ago when I picked up my new 328i coupe. I ordered it with the M sport package and it was supposed to come with the usual 18" M sport 328i wheels, but it was actually delivered with the 19" style 313s. These would have cost me over $5k to add on the configurator. Hell, they don't even come standard on a 335is. I pointed it out to the dealer, they just smiled and said looks like you lucked out, and now I have a gorgeous 335is imitator. They, however, did the right thing and didn't try to get more money for them and certainly didn't call me back after the fact to swap the rims.
Moral of the story: yes these things do happen, but it seems to be a mistake at the factory and the dealer should have no skin in that. |

Tell them you sold the wheels and brought another set of rims because you didn't like them and got pissed that they gave you the wrong set.
I'm serious.

Something similar happened to my dad a couple years ago when he went into a dealership and bought a brand new car. Signed everything and took delivery a week later. The dealership called me a week later telling me they sold it to him for 1k less than they should have and asked him to come in and pay the extra $1k or return the vehicle. They called me because my dad did not know english and I went with him to check over the papers when he signed the bill of sale. We ignored them and never heard from them again. What really surprised me is how they missed it in the first place. They paper work gets looked over and signed off by gods know how many people and they still mess up.

Best to get all the facts, verify what was ordered and what left the factory.
If it was some of mix up at the dealership, then can send someone to swap the rims and throw in some BMW accessories. I hope the dealership isn't trying to 'sell' upgraded rims by the mount first, pay next routine.

Yup dealers mistake keep em, as for the dealer, money spent is a lesson learned they'll know better next time. Or if your a person that won't be able to sleep at night, offer to pay the dealer a fraction of the cost so they can walk away with something.
