The foreman at my dealership says they've had it for a week or two ?!? I am trying to get them to install it on my car but they say they need a reason to do that. Also, according to him and per the Regional Tech Rep - BMW engineering has not acknowledged the issue with the lag (and my vehicle) ! (@$)!%!_%#@!(^)!% !@

Ezatnova - you need to call your dealership's foreman and talk to him. They seem to be much more interested to hear about the problem and solve it than f'n SAs and BMW NA.

Jesus. This is turning into a gdamn disaster. The fix is likely out in front of us, and they are denying it. Unreal. all I can hope is that I've been a big enough pain to my dealer that they will want to try this and fix it for me.
If that doesn't work...well...my ipod 6FL is acting up with the random feature not staying on. The update may fix that!

alright I'm editing this because I'm angry again reading yoru post, Cobu. That is just friggin unreal. Call 'em back man. Give 'em hell. Maybe also call Eileen or Dan and get them to conference in the SA/SM and make them update your car. Christ.

Also, I do have a REALLY HARD TIME believing they hav ehad it for a week or two. That makes me think they are idiots and don't know what they are talking about. They may have had 30.1 (or maybe 30.2) for a few weeks, but I would be SHOCKED if they had the real 31.0 any more than 2-3 days max. Show them the printed schedule that is a handful of pages back in this thread, regarding the worldwide release dates. Also, ask them if they physically received the DVD to update the computers with. This was NOT a small update pushed to their machines through the network. They should have gotten a whole new DVD.

Give them two clear choices:
1. They update you with V31 as soon as it's in (which I don't believe they know, for sure, from the sound of them claiming they've had it for a while).

or

2. You want your money back for the car.

I bet they choose #1.

My shop foreman was the guy who said he wished BMW would stop making false claims about having no turbo lag... He had zero interest in actually fixing the problem other than a bit of lip service ("we'll try to reduce it for you", then proceeding to do nothing).

All I know guys is that my shop foreman told me they have v31 and I have an appointment Thursday to get updated. He said it is available and all they do is download the software and then install it. I did not get into specifics as he can't stand me calling anymore and I particularly don’t like speaking to him either. I would have taken it today but they have no loaner cars. I am absolutely leery about this as I have a feeling they are busting my balls for all the shit I put them through but only time will tell. Trust me, I will post the second I get home from picking up my car.

Doesn't sound good...this is a DVD update that can't be downloaded. Make sure you get proof of what they are doing, i.e. the code numbers like Pavel posted of "E85X-545-23-223" (I just made that up, but they're like that) on your work order print out.

Bottom line, the last thing we want is for you to get fooled into thinking you got 31, when you actually got nothing (or maybe 30.1) and then you tell us "ah, still the same bs lag" and we are all inadvertantly misled.

Pavel, how long did your update take? I am kind of confused because looking at your posts, it seems like only an hour or two, yet, it usually takes a solid 4-6 hours for the full progman updates like this. Maybe there isn't much to update between 29.2 and 31.0 for our cars, and it only updates a few modules?

My update took about two hours. I asked the technician why only two hours and he told me It would have taken a lot longer if I had iDrive - wich I don't.

Like ezatnova wrote, It is VERY important that you get a printout from the technicians computer like I did. I have a feeling some dealers out there might try to pull a fast one on you guys.

I plan on getting the printout and already wrote the version number down. My dealership is a bunch of idiots but I will not know for certain unless I go down there and see if it is for real.

My car is at my dealer now, and they know of no Progman 31.________, or at least that is what they are saying.....

They are saying the 30.2 or whatever it is is the most up to date Progman available.....

For my car (non idrive) software update took 2 hours. It was from some old version (10/06 build car) to 30.0.2.

Prof3ssor, do you have Auto or Manual? I beleive you are on 30.0.2. Trying to find somebody who got car similar to mine.....

My brakes started squeking since last 2-3 days and I just wanted to wait few more days to see how the software works before I take my car in.

He just told me that whenever they new Progmans start showing up on the East Coast that it was ~2-3 weeks from then to get to Indy.....

Interesting. Well, Prof3ssor, maybe you will be ok then, especially by Thursday, if NJ does in fact get the DVD's first. Hopefully they know they can't pull one over on you by either faking the update or updating it to 30.2 and telling you it was 31.0. If in fact you are successful and your dealer DOES have 31, then it shouldn't be long until it makes its way from Dirty Jerz to Philly.

My dealership just told me that they will not do an upgrade unless BMW tells them to and that v31 is some story about a ghost of a legend of a fallen soldier from Southeast Asia . I don't think anyone here in the USA has the new software yet??? My Service Manager sure sounds like he has an arm up his ass and is being told what to say and what clothes to put on in the morning. Pavel...great news man!!! I'm happy for ya and like I said a few days ago, I think there is a glowing ember at the end of the tunnel. One word of despair though....and this makes me really nervous about this whole v31....they asked me if I wanted out of my car...If there really is a fix, and if they even knew there was a fix, I really don't think they would be asking me that question. There is allot more to all of this and I will tell later. I gotta go to work in a few so I post later...Pavel, would you PLEASE SEND ME THE INFO ALSO!!!! PM SENT MY FRIEND!!! 2-3 weeks, wow. Are they using the f@#$ing Pony Express? Or maybe they are just driving it there in a 29.2 vehicle and there are a lot of stop lights along the way.

Wow. Can't wait to hear these details. If they are getting you out of your car, they better be making you whole and THEN some (i.e. not just giving you residual value and screwing you on your depreciation and/or financing...I financed my car for 5 years, so if they offered to get me out of my car now, 1.4 years after purchase, I would be hosed on the depreciation). If they treat us right, we can at least trot over to the local MB dealer and get C63's...no lag there.
