Hey Guys,
Ive read a few threads on the OEM Muffler mod to PE...all 150 pages on this subject lol... Today I had the PE OEM Muffler mod as instructed by WhiteFury done and it sounds great... but not as loud as I thought it was going to be. Still worth the $300 bucks + $65 for new Square Lambo tips. Bought an Mtech front bumper with the extra $$$ |

I'm in SFV.
After adding the Exhaust Tips I hear no difference in stock sound. I did the steps exactly as White Fury described. A Mckenna BMW tech says he can hear it a little but said I should Delete the Resonaters... Any thoughts on that? |

Just got this done. Quiet at idle but sounds great when wot. If anyone in southeast Michigan is looking to get this done, message me and I'll give you the info to the shop who did it for me. Costed $280.

Okay, So i'm ready to get this done. Just want to see who has done it to an N55 e92 and is paired with Catless DP. Does it get raspy?

can anyone comment if changing exhaust tips made a difference in the sound?
I bought a set of these modded mufflers but want to change the tips. I was thinking rolled angle cut but someone mentioned changing from a single layer might result in less popping and gurgling? Any ideas on this? Thanks |

so i got this done today..or rather i bought the mufflers off someone who did this mod and installed them.. and right now I am not sure how i feel about it =/
when i first started it and rev'd it while parked it sounded pretty damn good from the back. but as i started driving it, i started questioning myself. I think it sounds good at light throttle but when i floor it and hit high rpms it sounds kind of hollow to me. idk if i like it. :Maybe that's the rasp everyone talks about? does anyone whos done this agree with me? I have catless downpipes and an e92 so i have an x-pipe. the owner said he replaced the perforated pipe with a solid one and took some of the packaging out. So i have the right formula. I guess i need someone to do a fly for me so i can hear what it sounds like from the outside. maybe i was just expecting too much. or maybe i heart just desires a v8 lol |

Although today i raised menu 10 and 12 on my jb4 and i think it sounds alot better! I usually keep menu 10 & 12 between 25-30 and i was getting a ton of rattle now. I raised them (10 to 38 and 12 to 32) and this got rid most of my rattle and now i think the exhaust sounds a little bit better. doesn't sound as "hollow" in the upper revs. i will continue to form an opinion on the sound tho lol you will have one muffler that is louder than the other stock muffler |

for anyone wondering what this sounds like, if you have a jb4, set menu 10 to something super low like 5 (this will also drop menu 12 to 10 as menu 12 can't be more than twice menu 10). this will push more air out thru the exhaust but you will get less spool. this is what this mod sounds like imo. I used to decrease menu 10 to 5 once in a while for fun so i could have a nice sounding exhaust that popped and gurgled all the time but the downside was no boost. With this mod, you get that exhaust sound but will full spool (depending on ur wastegate settings)

Had this done on my car recently (e92 335i N54, catless DPs, stock secondary cats untouched). Sounds excellent! No drone, ZERO rasp.
Sounds great under light throttle. It has a unique gurgly, throaty sound. Under VERY light throttle it's almost the same as stock. Cruising with the window up sounds exactly like stock (quiet, no drone, etc.) It definitely gets loud under heavy throttle but I have absolutely no rasp. Sounds badass going through tunnels. For those of you that have done this mod, TRY THIS- Set DWP (menu 10) to 0. Then in first gear slowly accelerate staying out of boost and keep accelerating VERY SLOWLY till about 6.5 k rpm (staying in first gear). At about 5.5k rpm the exhaust note gets 10X louder than normal for a very small portion of the rev range... It's insane, sounds like a straight piped e36 m3! I know, I know.. It's not the best way to drive the car and if people see you they are going to think you are trying to show off or don't know how to shift. But trust me, just try it. You will be surprised. |
