I do think I'm stopping by my buddy's house nearby first, though, so I won't be going with the group. I'll look for you guys there. Are you planning to arrive early? I have to park with other BMWs or I won't feel good about myself.

well written review...we did it today...was okay...but not as exciting as some of the HPDE's or autocross...decent amount of laps/seat time and some decent to look at cars....
the real highlight was seeing Al's M3 in person...hot car Ase...

I had a banana, and a cup of the regular coffee... The 30min talk was very "hater-specific" towards the BMW...but at least Audi knows who sets the bar and that they are still playing catch-up. The A4 was okay...I am sure the S4 will be more spirited and a bit more capable. I found the new A4 to be nice in the looks and trim categories, but I did not like the terrible unresponsiveness of the throttle and I didn't feel the weighting of the car was as well balanced as they say (claim was 55/45 front/rear). The S5 is a great looking car, my wife likes it a lot...but its V8 isn't as well groomed as say the M3's V8...and head-to-head at that price point, I am taking the e92 M3 any day... I just think Audi misses their target market and then plays a poor game of catch up against the engineering and dynamics of #1 BMW, the sales scope and general-like-ability of the passe #2 Mercedes', and the niche of the Porsches. I have never been impressed with Quattro...I see no need for it...sure grip is good off the line...but they sell that need for grip due to imclement weather and conditional driving...which you wouldn't be using your HP/Tq then anyway...rear wheel drive works wonders on high torque and HP capable cars...and handling is not lost with todays lightweight enhancements and better balance... Maybe I am missing something, but Audi really doesn't appeal to me. Final Comparison: AUDI A4 - Looks (8/10) Handling (7.5/10) Driveability (6/10) Comfort (5/10) Power (5/10) Intagibles/Mystique (4/10) Pricing (6/10) ---Total 41.5 / 70 BMW 328xi (comparably equipped) - Looks (7/10) Handling (7.5/10) Driveability (8.5/10) Comfort (7/10) Power (7/10) Intagibles (6.5/10) Pricing (6.5/10) --- Total 50.0 / 70 oh, yeah...the freebie was a crappy beige hat...you can buy mine on eBay right now for $0.88cents...shipping is $15.95 -- grab it now!

BK, Pseto, FrankoQ and I had a great ol time at the Audi event this afternoon. True its not a hardcore driving event but we put in quite the number of laps around the excellent track. This was the most seat/track time I've ever seen in my years of attending manufacturers' ride and drive events. Well done Audi! The driving made up for the lack of freebies, f&b, and hot attendants.
Lots of pictures to follow...

Great time today with even better company KL2DC, FrankoQ, BK, and I had a fun time today at the track. You really got your money's worth (paid $0) for 10 fun laps around Summit Point. That doesnt even include being a passenger for another 10 laps to learn the course and the autocross session where we compared the A4 against the 328xi, Lexus 250 AWD, and Mercedes C300 4Matic. It did happen to rain when we did the autocross, so it was quite hard to determine if all the skidding/drifting was the driver or conditions. I can say that the Lexus handled horribly. For some reason the traction control cuts the throttle leaving you unable to try to straighten out (maybe I was doing something wrong).
The track was set up great with a lot of elevation change, a few straight-aways, and plenty of areas to test your cornering skills. The 'carousel' was pretty cool; its a section of the track where not only are you're basically making a big u-turn, but you're also on a sideways 45 degree slope. I agree alot with what Scott said above about the A4; it was just OK (although I love their headlights). Handling may have improved, but that doesnt tell me anything other than they must have really sucked in the first place. Audi has a few good looking cars and they were all on display, especially the new R8. Pics to follow:
